FAT Brands is snapping up a massive restaurant franchise group for $442.5 million. The parent company of chains like Johnny Rocket's and Fatburger will now also head up brands like Great American Cookies and Marble Slab. CEO Andy Wiederhorn told Cheddar the food chains joining FAT Brands add new dimensions to its portfolio since it doesn't currently have options like pizza, cookies, or hot dogs on a stick. "It's a transformative acquisition for us," he said. Touching on labor shortages, Wiederhorn admitted that it is a "total nightmare," especially for new restaurants, but he expects as additional COVID stimulus funds run out, more people will move back into the labor force.
