FedEx SameDay City is expanding to 1,800 cities within 30 new major markets. The move in same-day delivery is driven by customer expectations for on-demand services. Brian Philips, CEO of FedEx Office, sits down with Cheddar to discuss how the company plans to scale its business. Philips says the Amazon-effect has generated a lot of interest in the same-day space. But he believes his company could have a leg up on the competition. The company says its service is the fastest-growing shipping option for its customers. While Amazon's Prime Now is available in 40 markets, it's limited to Prime members and only available on 25,000 products. There are smaller players in the space, too. Bay Area-based Deliv, which offers crowdsourced same-day delivery, is in 1,400 U.S. cities across 33 markets and counts retailers like Macy's and Best Buy as its clients.
