Prineville, Oregon was one of the largest producers of lumber in the United States until the local industry plummeted fifteen years ago. Thanks to a combination of luck and cliimate, Facebook decided to build its first data center in the town. Now Prineville is home to multiple data centers from Facebook and Apple, transforming the local economy. Abe Streep, Writer at Outside Magazine, visited the town. He tells us how the locals are adjusting with the times.
