When Rip Pruisken arrived at Brown, he was shocked that none of his new friends had ever had a stroopwafel before. The shock wore off when his suitcase full of stroopwafels--meant to lady him the entire semester--was devoured by those friends in just a few weeks. Pruisken took matters into his own hands and started making his own stroopwafels in his dorm room. Students loved them on campus, and that's when he realized he had tapped into something big. Now, Rip Van Wafels is a national brand sold across the U.S. and in Starbucks across the country as well. Pruisken joins Cheddar with some of his tasty treats. He explains how he built the brand from a dorm room operation to what it is today. Pruisken says he is excited by the company, because there is always room to grow and improve. He hopes to launch even more flavors in the future, and develop further partnerships.
