Fuse TV's 'Sex Sells' Normalizes Sex and Sex Work

Welcome back Between Bells, everyone. A new show on fuses, de stigmatizing everything we know or thought we knew about sex. Sex sells is now in season two and this time around, it's giving fans the same non judgmental way of exploring the booming business of sex with new guests and a point of views take a look, I'm lazy entrepreneur, businesswoman, we're going to talk to the baddest bosses in the industry about my favorite things. A lot of people really love the show high and how real these conversations are surrounding sex. What's your response to all the love you've been getting? Honestly, it's so amazing. Like, I can't even believe I gotta season two, I read like a stick somewhere that's only 20% of people get a season two and I'm like, okay, maybe if I talk about anything else but sex, it would be a no, but I love sex and I love money. So it's such an amazing topic to talk about. I'm so elated, like, I love it. So, I have to ask you what surprised you, or even your viewers when it comes to learning about the business of sex. So, I've been making money talking about sex for almost seven years, right? Um and I think what really has shocked me is people have said to me like, are you a sex worker, are you not a sex worker? And so when you dive into the legal sex industry, what's the most jarring about it is that everybody's normal. You almost, it's like the sexiness comes out of it when you learn that everyone's talking about having an s corp or overhead how many employees they need? I mean it's a real business, even though they may be stepping on someone for money. Are you surprised how little people know about sex and the business of sex? No, I mean think of american, right, Church and state like no, we're super religious country, right? Like I think that at the end of the day we associate sex with sin, you know sinfulness, I mean think about even like sin stocks, right? Like sex armory or something like that, like a tobacco, like sex is always in there, it's such a natural part of us. But no, it's not like our parents want to talk to us about it because they're scared to or maybe their parents didn't either. So here I am there you are doing really well, killing a game. So this season features entrepreneurs, special guest ranging from rappers to adult film superstars. When you craft this list of guests. I am curious here, what criteria are you looking at here for? As far as like guests to join in with me to learn about a business um nothing like you guys had charlemagne earlier charlemagne sat down with me in a foot model last season and we just learned together I want I guess my friends and my peers to experience this with me to learn together. But the actual businesses that I'm featuring mainly the criteria for me, I've done my best to make sure they're mostly women um black women or people of color and we've done a pretty good job of that just because they're generally underrepresented. You know, when you're watching like an HBO doc about sex or something like that, you rarely see people of color or women. So um at least in a highlight normally when we see women um that do sex work, it's something illegal or it's streetwalking or like the quote unquote lowest form of escorting. So I wanted people to, you know, see that there are presidents and ceos that are running businesses like this that are women. Favorite guest thus far. My mom, your mom? Why your mom? Um My mom got her vagina rejuvenated and I was so impressed with how much she was willing to share my mom, 70 years old. She sat down, went through menopause things. I didn't even know about my own body that would maybe happened to me later, but she just she's the best. She's not scared. She opened her legs right up at the doctor and like there was a moment where I forgot I was the tv host. I was like, oh my God, especially with your mom there, but she does such a good job and I feel like it's obviously genetics. But yeah, it's, it's great to see, you know, multi generational things on tv, but when it's your mom. Yes, I believe that. So there's so many sex positive podcasts, social media influencers shows on air from netflix's big mouth or sex education. Do you feel that we're finally entering the age where sex is a little or talking about sex is a little bit less of a taboo 100%. Like a lot of people come up to me in the street because I've been doing my podcast for a long time. It's called horrible decisions and um you know, they sometimes act like I reinvented the wheel, but you know, I would even say Angela, you were talking about her right leaving the breakfast club, she's had lip service on the air and serious and her podcast like that paved the way for me as a black woman as a sex podcast. Like there are so many people before me that have done it. But I think what's really made people gravitate towards me is I'm not a celebrity. I'm just a normal person that's kind of opened up to talk about sex. Can we talk about the horrible podcast first? I want to say it is spelled W H. O. R, which I love, I think this is brilliant. How is the podcast different from others out there on the market? To be honest. I think we're true feminists. You know, there's a lot of slut shaming that goes on in sex podcasts. Like they'll be like, oh my God, I would never do that and we don't ever want to yuck someone's yum, you know what I mean? Like if someone comes on and they're, they've got a crazy fetish, like I remember we had a gay couple that was into puppy play and they would put on puppy masks and look out of bowls and we were just like, all right wolf. Yeah, no, I'm with you here. Whatever you need to do, do it as long as you're two consenting adults, I want to hear all about it. You're making, you're gonna say something, please. I was gonna say it as long as you're not harming anyone animals, kids or people something do it. Absolutely. I couldn't agree more. Let's talk about your past because you were making six figures in a tech role. Why did you decide to leave all that and become an advocate for sex positivity? Um, I started my podcast, um, under the alias wheezy. Um, particularly because I had a job in corporate America, right? And when I started to see the traction it gained with whether it be celebrities listening to it or just the volume, the ad money, the tour money. I wasn't making exactly six figures when I Quit, but the trajectory was going crazy. And now the brand is the seven figure business, right? Like it's amazing and I'm glad I did, but I can always fall back on that job, right? I'm young, 30, but 31. But yeah, like I think we're all scared to leave our jobs because we think that's the pinnacle of what will You know, accomplish in life. But it's not because we've been trained that for so long, especially women. So I love that you're addressing that. I love this. I hope you come back soon. Host of sex sells.
