Last week our own, Shannon gave us some smash therapy. That's where he tried to smash some bottles and office equipment over it. Rise up today, he's given ax throwing a go at ax here in New York City. So let's be see if he'll be able to hit the ax on the head. Shannon, how's it going so far? So good. I have not hurt anyone. The police are not on the way nor the ambulance. So I'm doing pretty good, but I'm here at Live Act in Lower Manhattan and I am gonna take out some hostility and some stress by throwing axes, but maybe it's also more to it. So Kat is here with me and you are a cage captain. So you help control what happens in the cages. But talk to me about how this might be different from the smash room. I went to last week here at live, I'm a cage captain. So we got people come in couples, groups of four families, corporate events as you mentioned earlier and it's great for a date night. People come in, they get to know each other. You kind of have the weird activity to do to kind of take some of the awkwardness out for big corporate things if it's especially a much of a team that's been working remote, they can come in, meet each other for the first time. Shout out Colin. Um, and it's a lot of fun. It really breaks, takes that ice breaker away and lets people get to know each other in a little different way. A little bit more competitive and let loose and just have a good time. Let's just hope they're all friends because they are holding weapons in their hands. So I know. So start with the basics. What is ax throwing? Exactly. So, a throwing is a fun activity gets you up out of your chair and into the, into the cage. You're not just at a bar sitting, drinking, eating, you got to, you get a little sweat going, you're activating that core. It's like Pilates for people who are a little more hard core. One could even say, ok, let's that whole goal of it. You want to rack up as many points as you can. You want to get those bull's eyes. We got some kill shots. The bull's eye is four points and you have 321 as you go further out, bull's eye is six points. Oh, it's six. I know outside of the bull's eye is four outside the four, then 321 outside the target. Nothing. It doesn't count. It doesn't count. That's probably but like we'll hype you up. Congrats. You still hit the board. Ok. So what are some tips to actually throwing this thing? Because it's got a lot of weight to it. It does. So you're right handed right, right handed. So, for you, I'd have you hold it with your right hand. Give me a little thumbs up just like this. Wrap up your hand around on top. So you're giving it a hug, thumbs hanging out. You wanna hold it out straight? Like, so you'd have your left foot in front. You want to bring it back, keep those arms off your head. Yeah. Lift it up a little bit. Flax set. There we go. You're on a date, you gotta show off, right. Lift that front toe up and then you don't want to rock into it and release it right about at eye level. Ok. So when my thumbs are at eye level, that's when I release it. Yeah. Ok. Now, what are some of the mistakes people make when they're trying to throw it? Um, people who have done a lot of hand, eye coordinated sports? Well, that all come back into them. So, like you've played basketball, people are gonna flick the wrist down. You do baseball, people tend to do like a little, if we do one hand up, they do a real tight wrap around like they're, you know, pitching a wall or whatever they're doing. But, um, that's what you see for the most part. But so do we follow through, like when we are playing basketball? You know, you follow through or is it? Yeah, you wanna follow it through? Don't flick. Give it some power a little bit of love in the throw a little bit of passion. A little bit of hate. Whatever is up on the, you're the pro let you get busy. I'm gonna step back. All right. Let's warm up, shall we? All right? Whoa. That was some power in there. Where did that come from? Was it in the, in the, in the arms? And I think the rock is what helps me the most. Ok. Let's see if you can do it again. Let's see. I wanna see. You hit the bull's eye. You were doing it earlier when she was practicing our camera guy, Steve. If you don't know Steve, he was killing it. He was like, wow, Sam, three in a row in the bull's eye. He's coming for my job. He's coming for my job. Right. Right. OK. Here we go. Focus. Oh, ok. One more time. One more time. Ok. Here we go. This is the one and that was it. Ok. Can you do? Yeah, I think I'm gonna wait until we come back and see if I have what it takes to actually hit the bull's eye or at least hit the board if I get it anywhere near that. That I think I, I think this would be a fun date night. You know, people think that, you know, it's crazy throwing axes but it seems like a lot of fun. Yeah, it's, it's very silly. People have a great time. People come back, couple of dates here, you know. Yeah, I was gonna say it's a competition when we did the smash room. It was just taking out a lot of anger and, you know, stress but here it could be a fun game as well. Exactly. Yeah, we, um, the cage captains are really involved, so we're leading everyone through games. We're hyping people up. Sometimes it takes a second for people to get their first hit on the board. That's ok. You show them how to do it. The other players are really good. Let's say they're like, oh, I'll step in, let me give you some pointers, you know, get a little, but it's great. You set up some duo games, it gets the competition going little fire under, but it always helps. Ok. I'm not gonna practice during the break, but when we come back in about 30 minutes, I'm gonna actually throw an ax to see if I can hit. I'm not gonna say the bull's eye if I can hit the board, let me just get it on the board. So stay tuned for that guys. I'm feeling optimistic. Shannon, I think you can do this.
