Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Cases of gun violence in the United States have surged recently, with over 225 mass shootings reported in 2021 alone. According to the Gun Violence Archive, over 8,000 people in the U.S. have died from gun violence this year. This number puts 2021 on track to match the over 19,000 who were killed last year. Brian Lemek, Executive Director of Brady PAC, which supports gun violence prevention policies across the country, joined Wake Up with Cheddar for more.
