Hitting the Road for Thanksgiving? Avoid This Time
Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel times of the year. Whether it's driving home, to the grocery store, or the mall, the holiday's effect on traffic is almost one week long. Waze spokesperson Julie Mossler joins Cheddar to share which times are the worst to hit the road.
Waze gleaned insights from its November 2016 data to chart the most-congested traffic times this Thanksgiving. Mossler says Tuesday afternoon is the worst time to drive home for the holiday. She also reveals the worst time to travel is on the Monday after Thanksgiving. Even if you're going near your home, she says the busiest time to drive to the supermarket is on Thanksgiving Eve.
Mossler also gives an update on Google's 2013 acquisition of Waze. She says Google Maps and Waze operate fairly independently. Mossler says Waze is primarily for directions while driving, whereas Maps is for more general navigation.
