House Panel Can Obtain Trump's Taxes, Federal Court Says

and the world of politics is waking up this morning for another tough day for former president trump as a federal court rules, a House committee can access his tax returns. Our own aerial Hickson is live in Washington D. C. With all the latest details. Good morning, Ariel. Good morning, Shannon Alicia. Well, the three judge panel on the D. C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Tuesday that the House Ways and means committee can obtain former president trump's tax returns from the I. R. S trump had argued for years that the House had unfairly targeted him, but the court didn't buy it. Judge David Sentelle writes quote while it's possible that congress may attempt to threaten the sitting pet president with an invasive request after leaving office every present it takes office knowing that he will be subject to the same laws as all other citizens upon leaving office. This is a feature of our Democratic republic, not a bug. The appeals court said the mandate in the decision would take effect seven days after any further appeal trump might make. He could even appeal directly to the Supreme Court. The decision comes after a multiyear fight over trump's taxes between house democrats and the former president himself. The ways and means committee requested the returns under a law that allows disclosure of an individual's tax returns to the panel. Now, despite the when democrats would have a limited window in which to utilize these returns. Midterms, as we always say, are just around the corner and republicans are poised to take the House and so they'll be much friendlier about trump's taxes. Well, the Justice Department still has not commented on whether the search even happened, but we do have more reporting from several news outlets confirming some key details. So this is what we got so far. They say that the search happened and it was related to trump taking White House documents with him tomorrow, Lago when he was not supposed to.
