The house is scheduled to vote today on a measure to keep the government funded. House Speaker Mike Johnson unveiled a budget on Saturday meant to appeal to the broadest number of representatives, but it's a far right contingent in his own party that could hold out several Republican representatives including Marjorie Taylor Green of Georgia and George Santos of New York. Among others have said they will oppose the bill. If this is the case, then Johnson will have to rely on the support of Democrats to pass it. House Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries says the measure is quote, the only way forward, end quote. While the vote is expected today, the House has until Friday to decide.
