Non-profit social enterprise company "Samasource" launched nearly one decade ago with a mission: to lift people out of poverty by connecting them with digital work opportunities. Through the program, more than 8,000 people in Kenya, Uganda, India, and Haiti, have gotten jobs at top technology companies including Google and eBay. Samasource's Founder & CEO Leila Janah says she was inspired to launch this company after she witnessed untapped talent in sub-saharan Africa. Janah says digital work transcends geography, which is why her company is able to provide work opportunities through its software. Samasource specifically hires people who previously made less than $2 per day, to help them reach greater financial independence.
