The holiday shopping season has already begun, with Black Friday just around the corner. According to a recent report by PwC, 35 percent of shoppers say they intend to do most of their shopping on Black Friday this year. That's down from 59 percent in 2015. Cheddar Anchor Hope King spoke with HP's Vice President and General Manager of Americas Channel Stephanie Dismore about the state of omni-channel retail. Dismore says she expects more consumers to shop on mobile this season. She says it is critical for retailers to connect to consumers wherever they are, and whenever they want. Millennials specifically are driving change to the retail industry through their demand for "experiences." According to CBRE, 70 percent of millennial shoppers prefer an in-store experience. Dismore says the conversation of brick-and-mortar vs. online has now changed to omni-channel. Retailers now need to be in brick-and-mortar, online, and on mobile. The idea of integrated solutions for retail is critical for today's savvy consumer, says Dismore. Artificial intelligence and virtual reality are the ways technology will move these in-store experiences forward.
