How to Ace Your First Pickleball Game

All right. Meantime, Lanier is at New York City's New Pickle ball court this morning. This is where he's getting pointers on how to serve. Oh, God. Oh, there we go. I'm getting my pickle ball game ready. That's right. We are here in Central Park. That is the best place to play pickle ball. And this is actually the largest pickle ball court in the northeast. And we are out here having a lot of fun this morning. You can see the courts are already packed. People were out here at seven AM playing pick a ball. That's how popular this sport is. So today I'm going to learn a little bit more about playing. I have the, he's the co founders of City Pickle right here, Marriott, Erica to teach me a little bit more about the game. So before we play, start off by telling me what are some of the rules that we need to take into consideration, Erica. Ok. So first of all, you play a game to 11 points, ok? You score a point only when your team is serving. Got you. Ok? And you play with a partner, we're going to be partners All right. And you have a chance to serve. You serve until our team loses a point. Ok, then it's my turn to serve and I serve until our team loses a point and then it goes to the other side. Oh, God, there is a lot of pressure here. Ok. What are some tips? I should keep in mind while I'm playing. Keep your eye on the ball that pretty much solves for everything. So keep your eye on the ball. The lines are in if the ball lands on the line don't let anybody call it out. Um, and just have fun. All right, I'm ready to have some fun and we got a teammate who's just playing with us today. This is Emma. Emma. All right. You ready? Emma? All right, let's go. Ok, I'm gonna serve it up. We're gonna try to play and hopefully I'll be ok, you're gonna be off, go and oh oh that was in right. That was in. Oh, sorry. Am I allowed to hit that? I didn't think I was gonna do this much jumping around but, ok, so you can't hit it in the air. You don't have to let it bounce first, right? You can hit it out of the air. Ok? Unless you're in this front part of the court called the kitchen boom. Can I spike it like that? Yes, you can. Ok, there we go. My kids have put me into the challenge a lot. So this is a great sport to play with your kids and a lot of fun with my kids. Love to play that. You. Ok. And now how do we know when the game is over? Just whoever gets to 11, who gets to 11 1st? Ok. But this is a great rally we've got going on. Ok. I'm getting tired. This is a good exercise. So a lot of people use this for exercise as well. Yes, absolutely. Exercise, fun. Good, good point. Right. That was great. That was our plan. Ok. So we're on to a good start here. We're got a kid plan during the commercial break when we gonna see you can get to 11 1st. But this is, I'm actually winded. This was a lot. Ok. So I'm glad people can use this as exercise as well as well as just a fun sport to come play. Exactly. Like almost a new golf in some aspects. Right. Yeah. Absolutely. Very social.
