How to Organize Your Linen Closet So You Can Find What You Need

It's that transition time where you have different seasons colliding and you don't know exactly what to grab. Do I need the heavy jacket? Can I go a little bit lighter? And then there's the closet that kind of all of it in there. Michelle is here to help me today. You're a professional organizer and I feel a little bit embarrassed. So we're gonna open my closet and hopefully you're gonna be able to help. I'm so excited. I know I obviously making a few, but I guess what we want to do is make this mess into something that is better for us to stay organized and really live in the space, right. We want to make it functional and easy to maintain. That's so important. Right? Because once you clean it, I don't want to have to do it all the time. Right. Of course, that's the goal here. My job is to take it. We're going to take it all out, we're gonna edit it, we're gonna go through everything. Maybe you want to donate, purge, get rid of and then we're gonna put it all back in, we're gonna label and we're gonna make it nice and neat and easy for you to maintain. Ok. So step one, take it all out, take it all out, all of it all out, all out because you don't know what could be behind in there. I don't know it's there. All right. Here we go. Ok. Ok. So we went to work. It took us just about 15 minutes. I mean, record time we emptied empty. So really finding some funny stuff, some stuff I knew was there some of them I forgot about. Um, and then you were in charge of getting all of these on slim hangers and then organizing what they were. Yes, because especially like when you're getting your winter stuff in there, you want to use the slim hangers because you'll maximize the space, you'll be able to fit more and they actually do hold a lot of the heavy ones. Ok. So now we left this one cubby right here. That one is on its own because we know those are all like clutches and handbags. So they're gonna go in it in their own basket. We have an area of hats and umbrellas and scarves and mittens and stuff like that. And now it's time to organize what we have there now that we've separated them. Correct? And we're gonna label and make it organized and then put it back in there. OK. You ready for the big 32? Wow. OK. So explain to me what you did up top. Ok. So, yeah, it's very important to make sections for everything. So again, it's easy to maintain. So here's all your baseball hats and this is ring gear and outdoor stuff and your handbags and the kids are always reaching, where are my flag flags and my gloves. So, sports equipment and stuff for the dog is easy to get to now. And don't forget those reusable bags that we all need when food shopping and, and I like having the shoes there on the floor because then when my kids throw their shoes, right. I could say, take one more step and put it over here. Right. And there's so much more room to grow down here, which is so nice again, maximize the space. That's the most important thing. This is life changing.
