America's Restaurant Glut and the Latest In Apple's Battle With Qualcomm
After the tech bubble crash in the early 2000s, many investors turned to restaurants as a way to invest. Now there may be too many restaurants to make money. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 620,000 restaurants in the country. That number is growing at more than twice the population rate. In other news, Apple is turning up the heat on Qualcomm as the two tech companies continue their battle in court. Apple is reportedly looking to create some of its products without Qualcomm parts. According to people familiar with the issue, Qualcomm has withheld software from Apple that is critical to testing its chips in iPhone and iPad prototypes. This comes after Apple filed a federal lawsuit in January accusing Qualcomm of blocking competitors and charging exorbitant patent royalties.
