Matt Gray, CEO of Herb, describes the devastation Hurricane Maria wreaked on Puerto Rico's medical marijuana industry. Many dispensaries were destroyed just as the U.S. territory was getting into the industry. 20 of the 28 dispensaries on the island are now open, but many plants were destroyed. Gray says the medical marijuana industry could have contributed $100 million to the struggling economy. Without clean water, it's impossible to grow quality cannabis. Matt believes restoring water is a top priority for the industry right now. On top of having no water, the lack of electricity is an issue. The lighting in the facilities can't be run because of only 17% of the island has power restored. He describes the side effects of people stopping the use of medical marijuana on such short notice. He says it may take months to get all dispensaries back on their feet, but it's imperative for these patients to receive the care they need.
