From Barbie + Oppenheimer to Britney + will.i.am, here's what's happening in entertainment.

Opening Weekend

Barbie and Oppenheimer are both off to historic starts in the two days they have been available to audiences.

The Greta Gerwig-directed project starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling made over $41 million across 51 markets globally, according to Deadline. Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer took in $15.9 million across 57 international markets. Both projects are breaking records.

In the U.S. Barbie accounted for more than $22 million in Thursday previews, which was two times more than Nolan's effort. So far, Barbie has the second biggest launch of the year behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie.

"Barbenheimer," as it has been dubbed in the media, is projected to open with a combined $260 million at the domestic and international box office, according to the outlet.

Britney + will.i.am

Is 2023 the return of Britney Spears' reign as the queen of pop? It is certainly possible with the release of her newest song.

Spears partnered up with musician and producer will.i.am on a new track titled Mind Your Business. It's the duo's first collaboration since Scream & Shout was released in 2012; it hit one billion views on YouTube earlier this year. The new song also marks Spears' second drop in two years. In 2022, she and Elton John released Hold Me Closer.

Earlier this year, Spears also revealed that she will release a memoir, The Woman in Me, in October.

Vanna's New Deal

Vanna White has been tapped to return as host of ABC's Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

The role comes with a significant pay bump, according to TMZ, which had become the focus of conversation when host Pat Sajak announced he was leaving the show. It was reported that White's salary of $3 million dollars on the OG Wheel of Fortune has not changed in 18 years.

White's contract with ABC for the original syndicated program runs through 2024, which is when Sajak will step down from the podium. There has been speculation about whether White will continue once newcomer Ryan Seacrest takes up the reins as host in the 42nd season.
