But J. Lo and Ben Affleck finally tied the knot over the weekend that after a courtship that lasted 20 years and they did it in style all at a las Vegas drive through chapel. Look at this sunday started circulating that the pair had finally wed. And after a few hours later, J Lo sank down her monthly newsletter, all complete with the wedding pictures, fans including us here at cheddar news. We can't contain our excitement for the couple. Oh, and if you're somehow unaware, the couple affectionately known as Bennifer does have a bit of history, let's take you through it. They first connected back in 2002 on the set of the infamous bomb Geely. They were engaged in 2002 but ultimately called it quits in 2004. Now, Lopez then married Mark Antony in June of 2004, Affleck moved on with Jennifer Garner that year as well. However, all of these years later they found their way back to one another and by April 2022, Jen and Ben were engaged once again engaged and I feel like this just says the odds have never been more present baker I was saying, you know, benefits back. Y two K fashions back, basically, every song on the radio is like a throwback remix hit. Um, but I kind of love this. I love the look, First of all, can we talk about the love the love it. It's beautiful. And apparently the dress, she had two dresses, but one of the dresses was quote from an old movie. So I don't know, she's had the dress for years. We're not sure which one it was that was from an old movie, but I'm still trying to uncover how exactly that happened. What movie it's from. I'm also wondering why Vegas, right? That great question. And then will there be a party next? Maybe a larger one for family and friends just within the last hour. Asia TMZ is reporting that apparently there's going to be a massive bash. Said to take place in the next few weeks at Ben's home that he owns in the coastal town of rice burrough Georgia, which is just outside of savannah. Apparently TMZ sources saying that the party's guest list gonna have family, friends, close friends, celeb pals. Apparently it's on 87 acres of land. So plenty of room for them to have a big old party there. But I also love that they apparently barely made it to the wedding chapel right before it closed. They got there so late that Elvis wasn't there to officiate the wedding, but when she wrote down this entire sort of giant sort of statement about the wedding and all that stuff, All the beautiful quote she had, there was one part of it that really sort of stood out to me and she said stick around long enough and maybe you'll find the best moments in your life in a drive thru at Vegas at 2 12 30 in the morning in the Tunnel of Love though, your kids and the ones you'll spend the life with will be their love is a great thing, maybe the best of things and it's worth waiting for. I mean that is so amazing. I love jennifer Lopez and she's a hopeless romantic. So I didn't expect anything less from what she was going to say about this wedding, which was essentially 20 years in the making. I do have to point out something a little bit interesting and kind of juicy, especially because I am a J Lo fan. So I want to preface that I'm so happy for her, I want her to be happy, I want them to be happy. It is a little bit interesting that she changed her name, especially because jennifer Garner changed her name. So there are now two jennifer appliques, I'm sure, but it's still kinda weird and I think I'm characteristic for J lo just because she has made such a name. So I think that is also something kind of promising for the future that she's willing to relinquish her surname for the first time, really ever in this capacity. I'm not sure if she's changed her name in previous marriages. But I think that says so much just symbolically as well. So I had to point that out. It's kind of like weird but also kind of hopeful and promising I think for her and just by the way if you're concerned if all of a sudden now she's no longer gonna be J lo. That's not gonna be the case. Clearly the stage name the entertainment name will always still be jennifer Lopez. But the formality the legal name will now be jennifer Affleck. Yeah let's switch gears here thor Love and Thunder was challenged by a trio of new releases this weekend but it was no fight for the God of Thunder who managed to fend off three new nationwide releases to hold the number one spot in north America Thor four had a big first week bringing in $187.2 million dollars ticket sales cratered though in its second weekend dropping by 68% to $46 million from 4375 theaters. Love and Thunder has generated a sizeable $232 million at the domestic box office and $497.9 million globally. Yeah and of the 15 films in the M. C. U. With opening weekends over $100 million. Only three of them actually had second weekend drops of over 60% those titles. Spiderman. No way Home Spider man Homecoming and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Two of those three have actually been released in the pandemic era. And for what it's worth. That's some of the interesting notes there. Love and Thunder dominated Sony's literary adaptation where the crowd had sing Paramount's animated paws of Fury. The Legend of Hank and the focus features period drama. Mrs Harris goes to paris universal and illuminations Minions. The rise of Gru took second place in the box office bring in 26 million in its third week down 44% from last week. And how about Top Gun maverick? It was actually pushed out of the top three this weekend interestingly. The top gun in its eighth weekend now have released tickets sales just fell 23%. It's now at $617 million domestically. And that's important because it is really soon asia gonna pass Star Wars the last Jedi and the Avengers to rank them on the top 10 highest grossing films in domestic box office history. Which is absolutely incredible to think about. There's also a really good chance it's gonna pass Jurassic world and titanic titanic. 659 million. So it'll crack the top seven. That is incredible. I also want to focus on this interesting above 60%. 2nd week drop for thor Love and Thunder because initially I was like oh maybe it's just like tough comparables But we mentioned this has been a pattern for a lot of the M. C. U. Movies. And when this happened with Doctor Strange, some of the reasons that a lot of critics were saying maybe it doesn't have good word of mouth, maybe it doesn't have repeat business potential. So a lot of fans used to go to the movies multiple times to see these films, especially the diehard fans, maybe no repeat potential and also people outside of the fan base, this is good for you and I to talk about because I feel like we're M. C. U. Adjacent. Like, you know what's going on, we love to talk about the movies, we don't necessarily know exactly the complexities. Like I don't consider myself a die hard fan because I don't know everything about every story and how they fit together. So I don't feel comfortable inheriting that space. But I think that means that because these Sequels are coming out so rapidly, there are also a ton of different series that come onto the Disney plus streaming platform. It also makes it a little bit more intimidating for someone who maybe isn't in on the story from the beginning. I mentioned to you, I had like a ton of homework to do to watch this movie and I would definitely want to do it, but it just takes time. Especially because these are not short movies. So I think it also makes it a little bit more challenging for like maybe someone knew outside of the M. C. U. Fan base to get involved. And we're finally starting to see a little that a little of that fatigue hit the M. C. U. Universe by no means it's not struggling but I think that's what that second week drop kind of insinuates and if there is no major drop above 60% typically that means the movie's gonna do really well because I think it was with black panther there drop for the second week was only about like 40%. I want to say somewhere between 40 to 47% and it became you know record breaking for the amount of viewership that they had at the box office. So that's super interesting to me and like a tidbit in in terms of the numbers at the box office and last night I'm going to have on the box office here impressive start for craw dads given the fact that it beat analyst expectations with that 17 million expectation was only about 15 million given the fact also it has Poor reviews. I mean it has a 36% rating on rotten tomatoes but it's not stopping people from still going to see it. Which is good. Which is good there the power of Reese Witherspoon and Taylor Swift I guess I was really hoping for this because Reese does really well converting the book to movie book to series little fires everywhere was so good from Hello Sunshine. So I think Kristen schueler and I were talking about this earlier. I'm down to go and see this. I haven't read the book yet though and she's working on it. So I think I need to do that all this homework before we had I was gonna say the new era right after the show is over girl you are very busy when this is done. All right, let's talk about a different kind of weekend and I'm so excited for this. We got the first trailer for able the weekend test phase, upcoming HBO series. The Idol the show stars, I can't feel my face singer plus lily Rose Depp, here's a glimpse of it, take a look. 78 lick it camera more more, more so into this. Yeah, The Idol which lists euphoria. Showrunner Sam Levinson as a co creator follows Rose Depp as a rising pop star who was lured to the dark side of Hollywood by a self help guru who might actually be a cult leader played by the weekend. The weekend dropped the trailer saturday night during a show on his after hours till dawn tour in New Jersey. The series has to navigate a few hurdles though in april variety reported that Amy Seimetz had exited her role as director on the project. Production has already been filmed at least multiple episodes so far. There is also no official release date for the Idol but we can expect the series to be a very wild ride on this. We should also know pop star Troy Savan, you saw him right there just a second ago also in this. So if you have Sam Levinson who has created euphoria and it's Euphoria, we all are attached to you for it because it's dark, it's got sort of like this under, you know, this weird underbelly of Los Angeles attached to it. Also this one seems like it's going to be crazy and I'm so here for it. It's giving the drugs of euphoria with like the grittiness of uncut gems, which the weekend was also in and also I feel the chaos of like the wolf of Wall Street, so I'm definitely gonna watch this, like basically anything on HBO max, I'll try once but um it will be interesting because of the lineup, I'm here for the musician to actor crossover with the weekend, especially this being a media role for him. You mentioned choice Yvonne also being in this Black Pink's Jennie is also going to be in this so it is stacked with a lot of musicians and models and lily Rose Depp, I don't know if you've watched a ton of her stuff, I haven't seen a lot of it, but obviously look at her dad, so I'm expecting the acting chops to be there. I know her mostly for her modeling career, so this is really stunning visually. I wonder what the content will be like but I'm definitely going to watch it. I'm very excited for that. And look if Euphoria is any sort of example, the sort of critical acclaim and the success that that show has had and how much all of us are talking about that show and all of the Emmy nominations it got, you would have to think that this one is basically would be in the same sort of area here. Yeah. And I also wonder what the timing was like with filming this with the pandemic and stuff. Was this something that was booked in advance? Because we know the weekend is currently on tour as you mentioned, but he was supposed to be going on tour in 2020 postponed in 2021. So maybe this is the reason why he postponed that second time. In addition to covid of course because 2021 was really his year, it's when he performed at the Super Bowl. So I I was thinking okay, maybe this is why he was filming this and I hope that when this does actually drop, we don't know what it is, it says coming soon. So when it does drop, maybe the weekend will stop by on cheddar and I would like that. I would like that. Let's also stick with music though, baker Kanye West is dropping out of Rolling loud Music Festival in Miami Festival organizers shared a statement with Variety sunday afternoon saying, quote, We were looking forward to ye headlining, Rolling Loud Miami in 2022 we spent months working with him and his team on the performance. Unfortunately though he has decided he will no longer be performing, this is the first time a headliner has ever pulled off of our show and that we don't take it lightly, we wish him the best. Now. Rolling loud has already announced Kanye's ex BFF Kid Cudi will be replacing him. The message of the festival is trying to stand with that move that's left up for debate for those out there that have been following Cuddy now, headlining this friday with future saturday Kendrick Lamar closing out the fest on sunday and Rolling Loud said it had received multiple assurances from West about his performance and added it did its best to keep him in the lineup. The news comes just days after West was sued for reportedly not paying a production team that worked on his canceled Coachella performance. Okay, so I have a little bit of tea here. I feel like I'm very spicy you are, I like it. The T a sizzling in Los Angeles today Canada. So I knew someone who was working on Kanye's production for Coachella and that thing was so last minute as expected, I feel like so much of Kanye's productions are like big eccentric over the top, gonna be crazy, potentially may not happen and a lot of the time, he does cancel and it's not just with production, with concerts, we've seen it time and time again with albums, so this isn't that surprising, I hope it's not due to mental health, I always put that out there when we talk about Kanye um but this is days away, like it's happening friday, so I think commending rolling loud on being able to secure replacement this last minute with Kid Cudi, whether or not that's fueled by beef, I think that's a huge deal, especially for fans, I can't imagine, you know buying tickets for this festival booking a trip to Miami, especially in this economy with all of the situations we're having with flights and travel, that would be so annoying to me and I know so many friends I think you included that wanted to see Kanye at Coachella um and weren't able to so I hope eventually when he does make it back we know it's going to be huge, it's gonna be big, but not this time around for Kanye look, somebody who went to Coachella and fully was expecting Kanye to perform there, I mean he gave at least Coachella a few weeks heads up, I mean as you mentioned this is just days, but I almost kind of love that they sort of twisted the knife a little bit by having cutting through the show instead of him, even though I would have to say the weekend Swedish, house mafia performance at Coachella was one of my favorite. A lot of people expected though Kanye to actually perform here just given the fact that he did this surprise cameo appearance at the Games L. A. Show just a few days ago, where he performed Easy the other day. That was his first performance he's had since Donde that Donda really show back in february in Miami. So you have to start to question and wonder what is going up in Kanye world right now.
