Bennifer Ties the Knot
About 20 years after they first started dating, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially married after "Bennifer" tied the knot in Las Vegas over the weekend at a drive-thru chapel. Rumors had swirled about nuptials, but it was confirmed in J.Lo's monthly newsletter, which included pictures from the ceremony. And while many will always refer to Jennifer as J.Lo, fans might have to come up with a new individual nickname as she decided to take her new husband's last name. J.Fleck is probably a no-go.
Weekend Box Office Update
It was a jam-packed weekend at the box office but for the god of thunder, it was no contest. Thor: Love and Thunder secured the top spot at the cinemas with a leading (if disappointing) $46 million from 4,375 theaters. The drop-off from opening week to its second was staggering after Thor initially raked in $187.2 million. The 68 percent decline in sales ranks among the steepest in second-week performances for the Marvel cinematic universe. Others on that list include recent films Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Black Widow, and Spider-Man: No Way Home. Coming in second and third this weekend were Minions: The Rise of Gru and Where the Crawdads Sing, respectively.
The Weeknd 'Idol' Update
Fans of the Weeknd, get ready to watch your favorite pop crooner on the big screen. The singer released a first-look trailer for his new HBO Max series The Idol. It's the story of a pop singer and her pursuit of a Los Angeles club owner and cult leader. The show was co-created by the Weeknd, Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim. Filming only began in January, so fans will have to hold out at least until the end of the year or early 2023 to watch the series in full.
Ye Out, Cudi In
If you were looking forward to seeing Ye at Miami's Rolling Loud, you're in for some disappointment. The rapper/producer has pulled out of the hip-hop music festival after months of preparation for the big day, according to the organizers. In a strange move, they ended up tapping Kid Cudi as a replacement. Cudi had recently announced that his friendship with Ye was over after disparaging comments Ye had made over his relationship with Pete Davidson. The news also comes just days after a production team filed a lawsuit that alleges they were not paid for work done on Ye's canceled Coachella performance.
