'Renaissance' Revision
Beyoncé has quietly removed an album credit from Renaissance after singer Kelis objected to being included in the project last week. Fans noticed the change yesterday after the updated credit listings on Tidal and Apple for the song Energy did not include Kelis' name. In a series of tweets and Instagram posts, Kelis said Beyoncė's inclusion of an interpolation of the 2003 smash Milkshake was thievery. It has since been revealed that while Kelis is the song's performer, she was not listed as a songwriter on the original track.
Billboard Hot 100
Lizzo is riding high this summer following the release of her fourth studio album About Damn Time and scoring her second No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. And for the second week in a row, she sits atop the list again. Beyoncė's Break My Soul continues to rise after jumping up to No. 6. Harry Styles isn't doing too bad either after having the year's longest-running No. 1 at 10 weeks with As it Was. He sits at number two for the second straight week. Rounding out the top three is Kate Bush with the Stranger Things-boosted Running Up That Hill.
'Batgirl' Canceled
If you were looking forward to Batgirl, you might have to write and film it yourself. The project, which was slated for theatrical and streaming release on HBO Max, was nixed with Warner Bros. Discovery saying the move was a business decision. The focus for it now is on turning DC Comics properties into blockbuster theatrical films. Despite being deep into post-production, the project allegedly did not meet those standards having started out as a streaming-first movie.
What a Time to — Watch TV
If you ask FX chairman John Landgraf about the state of television in 2022, he'll tell you there has never been a better time to be alive to experience TV than now. He told reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour that this year will mark the peak of the TV era. Last year was a record-breaking year for scripted television with 559 different shows available. This year 357 scripted shows have aired so far, which marks a 16 percent jump year-over-year.
