Sequels Galore

It's official, detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are coming back for a fourth time to wreck the streets of Miami as they look to stop the bad guys. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence confirmed that a new sequel to Bad Boys is in the works.

The duo appeared via video at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Monday to drum up excitement around their latest collaboration. It was Smith's first official comments on the project since he was spotted last month in Atlanta decked out in his Lowrey garb.

"We're sorry we couldn't be there," Smith said before Lawrence stepped in and said, "No, no, we're not sorry we couldn't be there because we have to be here."

The movie is just a month into shooting and is expected to be a hit in theaters with ticket sales expected to return to pre-pandemic levels this year. A release date for the project has not been revealed.

Also in sequel news, Denzel Washington is set to reprise his role as Robert McCall in The Equalizer 3. The actor was present at CinemaCon and presented a new trailer to the audience.

The director of the film, Antoine Fuqua, also got to present Washington with a lifetime achievement award.

"We would be nothing without you all. We're here for you. We're here because of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been blessed beyond measure," said Washington.

What's interesting is that fans of the franchise will simultaneously get to enjoy The Equalizer series on CBS with Queen Latifah starring as Robin McCall. The two Equalizers apparently do not exist in the same universe.

The Equalizer 3 is slated for a September 1 release.

Shakira, Latin Woman of the Year

It's a glorious day to be singer Shakira. She was named the first-ever Latin Woman of the Year by Billboard for her astounding accomplishments in music.

Billboard honored her for her musical accomplishments, which include 14 Guinness World Records and four number one songs on Billboard's Latin chart.

The award comes amid the Colombian singer's legal battle in Spain where she is charged with owing around $14 million in back taxes.

Another A-Rod in NY

New York sports fans have had a few things to rave about lately. The New York Knicks are nearly into the second round of the playoffs after 10 straight years of being knocked out in the first round or not making it in at all, the New York Rangers are battling it out in the Stanley Cup playoffs — and the New York Jets just acquired Aaron Rodgers.

After weeks of going back and forth, the Jets finally struck a deal with the Green Bay Packers to send the four-time MVP Rogers out East in exchange for some valuable draft picks. Rodgers had expressed a desire to play in New York, and now fans will get to see how it all pans out.
