Britney Spears Opens Up
Since the end of her 13-year conservatorship, Britney Spears has slowly been revealing more details about her life during that period. In a more than 20-minute-long video, the singer told viewers about the start of her conservatorship and how her father began taking control over her career and personal life. Spears also talked about her mother's role in the ordeal and noted that she turned a blind eye to the situation.
'Hold Me Closer' Blows Up
In more uplifting Britney Spears news, her newly released collaboration with Elton John titled Hold Me Closer reached number one in the iTunes store — and in numerous countries. Elton John took to Twitter and said, "I'm thrilled with the response to #HoldMeCloser[.] I wanted to do a fun happy summer track so was ecstatic when @britneyspears agreed to be a part of it. She is truly an icon, one of the all-time great pop stars & I love her dearly. I hope you all love it!"
National Cinema Day
Looking for a good way to keep cool and watch something new? This upcoming weekend, more than 3,000 movie theaters across the country will be celebrating National Cinema Day with discounted tickets. It's an effort to spark excitement around the movie theater experience. This past weekend was a prime example of the ongoing struggles for the in-theater experience after The Invitation took the top spot at the weekend box office with just $7 million and became the lowest performing No. 1 movie since Honeymoon in Vegas in 1992. Bullet Train held on for the second spot with $5.6 million, and Idris Elba's Beast sat in third with under $5 million.
