Constance Wu's Twitter Return
Crazy Rich Asians star Constance Wu is back on Twitter after a three-year hiatus. Back in 2019, the actor stepped away from the social media platform after she received some backlash from her posts expressing that she was upset after her ABC show Fresh Off the Boat was picked up for another season. Wu said that the renewal forced her to give up on a passion project, but much of the Twitterverse had made up their minds about her. Wu has since said that was a particularly hard time for her and it nearly caused her to lose her life. In a Twitter post, Wu explained that she made an attempt to end her life but was saved by a friend, and she hoped that her story will help the next person that is struggling with mental health issues. Wu followed up her tweet with information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.
Platinum Record for Harry Styles
It's Harry Styles' year, and no one can stop him. That's probably how the singer feels after officially landing the first platinum album of the year. So far Harry's House is the only album to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry of America, and his lead single As it Was has been in and out of the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 since it was released in April, spending a total of nine weeks in at number one.
Dua Lipa's Spotify Streams
Dua Lipa is turning into a regular stat machine over at Spotify. The Levitating singer has reached a mark only previously achieved by Ariana Grande. She now has seven songs with more than one billion streams. Some of her songs to reach the milestone include Cold Heart featuring Elton John, Don't Start With Now, and Scared to Be Lonely.
Lizzo Returns With 'Special'
It's been three years since the world last heard a full-length album from Lizzo. But that all changed today after the release of her fourth studio album Special. The album's lead single About Damn Time has thus far peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and has become a viral sensation on TikTok (There's even a dance to go along with it). In an interview with Variety earlier this year Lizzo said, "I hope that it is some of the most useful pieces of music to ever exist. All I want to do is help people through my music." She's set to begin touring on September 23 beginning in Florida.
