All right, let's get to some other entertainment headlines. We're following the ending of Avengers. Endgame could have been very different if Jon Favreau who plays Happy Hogan in the M. C. U. And also directed Iron Man. The first one got his way in an interview with Vanity Fair. The Russo brothers who directed the blockbuster opened up about Tony Stark's final mode when he uses the infinity stones to snap half of the universe back to life. Of course sacrificing himself in the process as this is not a spoiler alert. This movie came out years ago, Anthony Russo said Favreau called him in a panic after he read the script and said quote, are you guys really gonna kill Iron Man? Take a listen for yourself. I remember pacing on the corner of the stage on the phone with Favreau trying to talk him off a ledge because he's like you can't do this, it's gonna devastate people and you don't want them. Um you know walking out of the theater and into traffic. We did it anyway. We did anyway. And to john's credit, he hadn't stepped through the process in the way that we had, we would have had the same reaction. No you definitely don't want people walking out into traffic. So if they knew we were all going to cry because I did. Why did they go through with it. Well the Russos felt they quote had earned the ark that would feel a redemptive and emotional and uplifting and hopeful even though he had sacrificed his life. I did cry during that scene but I thought it was really, really well done and you know, it's like Stranger Things for example, it's getting a lot of criticism because they didn't kill off any main characters. I think sometimes I do not, but I didn't want Iron Man dead either, but I do think it moves the story along that makes it less stagnant by the way. It shows the pull the Russo Brothers have if they can convince Favre to kill off this big of a character in all of this, so much so that he was like saying, you want audiences to basically be, you know, committing suicide because they're so upset that this is happening to the characters, but this seems to be sort of the issue with any movie, movies have a better sort of ending if the main character lives or dies because of, you know, I remember as a kid in tears when you know, and all dogs go to heaven, you know, that's one of the like, but like, but my mom was like, that made the movie so much better because it has sort of this uplifting sort of thing with the story and I think it's how it's handled and I think the Russo Brothers did a great job in my personal opinion, but look, there might be other people that disagree, but I'm with you. I think sometimes if the main character goes out with a for a good reason for the story. I think it adds more to the story. He saved half of earth. Right. Exactly. That's a good story like that. If you thought Top Gun Maverick, what you're just talking about couldn't possibly accomplish anything else this summer. Well it turns out tom cruise and company might just wind up being the reason a third legally blonde movie finally sees the light of day. In a new interview with Usa Today Reese Witherspoon explains that she's using the mega successful sequel as motivation. She said quote it's just like Top Gun. They waited a long time to make another version of that movie and I love the nostalgia piece that they incorporated in it. So definitely that gave us a lot of inspiration about what we would want to do with Elle Woods and make sure that we all had those same touchstones that matter to people back then. By the way, Elle Woods apparently isn't the only character that Witherspoon is planning on bringing back as she told the paper. She has another project in the works. This is where she'll prize a character she played quote a long time ago. That's a good intentions. I don't know what else could she possibly played? Maybe june carter cash. I don't know. Can I say no, you go ahead. Okay. The thing, I love Top Gun, we both love Maverick. The thing is one of the reasons we liked it. Beside nostalgia is the jet scenes the fire, the action the action. You don't get that when she's at the Supreme Court, legally blonde. I mean maybe they'll write the story well enough but I think there's a lot more pressure to get a good script for legally blonde. Look they have been in development for this league legally blonde forever. It was actually supposed to come out this year with Mindy Kaling is one of the writers for this thing but nobody knows if it's done nobody. No I mean it obviously hasn't been filmed and obviously nobody knows when it's ever coming out because the pandemic sort of calm did all of this the other part of this and she's right about the nostalgia but tom Top Gun was 36 years between when Top Gun came out and when Maverick came out the second legally blonde came out like 2005. So yes, while it has been a while from Hollywood standards it hasn't been 36 years that were like clamoring for another legally blonde that said you and I will take any opportunity to watch jennifer Coolidge. So. Oh yes, absolutely. By the way, maybe that's where the movie starring jennifer Coolidge instead of Reese Witherspoon nothing against jennifer Coolidge had her own movie about this 100% in and the weekend Hollywood this weekend. By the way Hollywood lost a legend. Actor Michelle Nichols best known for her groundbreaking work as Lieutenant aura in Star trek died sunday at the age of 89 that according to a statement from her son, the icon broke barrier after barrier in her career, she was one of the first black women to play a leading role on prime time television. She's also credited with the first interracial kiss on you us television. That's when she locked lips with William Shatner's Captain Kirk martin Luther King Jr called Nichols Star Trek role, quote, the first non stereotypical role betrayed by a black woman in television history. She died from natural causes by the way, she was first found really working as with Duke Ellington and his band. That's one of the first places that she was actually found years and years and years and years ago. And all the barriers that she broke, especially in television during that time. There were no black women, especially on prime time television, let alone one of the number one rated shows on the planet, which was, which was Star Trek at that time. So the barriers that she broke, especially that time, just add to the incredibly stellar resume that she's had, iconic and I mean the first interracial kiss on national television, you saw everybody that came after her Whoopi Goldberg. All these individuals who came on Star Trek afterwards completely come out saying that it's because they got these rules because of somebody like her
