Griner's Appeal Denied

A Russian court has rejected Britney Griner's appeal of her nine-year prison sentence. The WNBA star is set to serve about eight more years behind bars after the court gave her credit for her pre-trial detention. U.S. officials previously said they were confident Russia would enter negotiations for a prisoner swap, but so far talks have hit a stalemate. The 31-year-old has been in custody since February when she was caught with vape cartridges that contained hashish oil.

Lewis Hamilton is venturing into the world of production with a new film and TV company. The Formula 1 champion launched Dawn Apollo Films, according to a Deadline exclusive, and it already has some serious star power behind its projects. Brad Pitt is set to star in an Apple+ movie directed by Top Gun: Maverick's Joe Kosinski. There's also a documentary on Hamilton himself in the works that will focus on his ascent in racing.

Let's check in with the nation's hottest songs. Sam Smith and Kim Petras' Unholy sits at the top of the chart, making history with Petras becoming the first out trans person to lead the list. Steve Lacy's Bad Habit is at number two, and after 29 weeks, As it Was by Harry Styles is sitting comfortably in the third spot. Meanwhile Atlanta's Lil Baby is getting plenty of attention: his hits occupy three of the top spots with California Breeze at four, Forever at eight, and Real Spill rounding out the week's top 10.
