JACK RYAN RETURNS
The third season of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan is returning to Amazon Prime Video after a three-year hiatus. The series, starring John Krasinski, shut down during the pandemic and is now reemerging amid a very different geopolitical situation. The latest season concerns a Russian plot to invade neighboring countries. However, production wrapped long before the actual Russian invasion of Ukraine, which might cause some cognitive dissonance for viewers.
TOM CRUISE JUMPS OFF A CLIFF
A new featurette from the upcoming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One just dropped, and it shows Tom Cruise preparing for what the action star calls "far and away the most dangerous thing we've ever attempted." While the mechanics of the stunt are complex to say the least, Cruise in the video explains how he will ride a motorcycle off a cliff, and then BASE jump the rest of the way. Such videos are becoming their own genre for Cruise, who, in another promo, is shown standing on the outside of an airplane as it plunges toward the earth.
HARVEY WEINSTEIN FOUND GUILTY
Five years after the start of the #MeToo movement, jurors on Monday found Harvey Weinstein guilty of rape and sexual assault of one of his four accusers. Weinstein, 70, has already served two years of a 23-year sentence for a previous rape and sexual assault conviction in New York City. Now he could get an additional 24 years in prison in California. “I hope Weinstein never sees the outside of a prison cell during his lifetime," said the victim, known as Jane Doe, in a statement.
PICKLEBALL PICKS
Major League Pickleball is fast becoming an American mainstay. The league has announced 12 new teams for 2023 and a new round of investment, including funding from celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Heidi Klum, and Kevin Durant. The announcement comes one month after the league merged with the league run by rival group Professional Pickleball Association.
