Shows Are Streaming
On the heels of the success of his hit Netflix series Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy is gearing up to tell another chilling story — this time about the Menendez Brothers.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story is slated for 2024 to get into the story of the brothers who were convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents. Netflix made the announcement on Monday in a video lasting longer than a minute that features one of the brothers placing the 911 call and telling the dispatcher that someone had killed his mother and father.
The new series does not come without criticism. During the height of the Dahmer series' popularity, Murphy saw backlash from some of the family members of men killed at the hands of the notorious serial killer. There was also anger stemming from the show being categorized under the LGBTQ tag.
Meanwhile, Netflix also added some titles to kickstart the month of May including, American Gangster, the Austin Powers franchise, Black Hawk Down, For Colored Girls, and Rugrats. In total, 57 additional titles are available to stream.
Rivalries Galore
The 2023 NBA playoffs have been nothing short of amazing so far with upsets in both the Eastern and Western Conferences and historic athletic feats.
For the first time in 23 years, the New York Knicks and Miami Heat are duking it out for a chance to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. It was once one of the league's more storied rivalries, and the Knicks are finding themselves in a 0-1 hole to start. Across the country in California, a series with legacies on the line between Golden State's Stephen Curry and Los Angeles' LeBron James is shaping up to be one the most memorable basketball bouts in recent years.
Both are competing for a chance to advance to the Western Conference Finals and ultimately both are vying for their fifth championship rings. There is high anticipation that the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors will go the full seven games.
And back in the East, a rivalry as old as the NBA between the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers gets renewed beginning tonight. With Philly's Joel Embiid's health in question, the question now is will his shorthanded team be able to keep up with powerhouses in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
A quick note for hockey fanatics — can you believe the Boston Bruins exited the playoffs after having the best record in NHL history? The team lost in a best of seven series against the Florida Panthers 4-3 in the final game. Another high-stakes game seven between the New York Rangers and the cross-river rival New Jersey Devils gets underway tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation
One of America's most iconic rock bands is calling it quits — at least for their roadshows.
Aerosmith is hitting the road one final time for their Peace Out tour. The 40-date arena show kicks off at the end of summer in Philadelphia and is expected to wrap up in January in Montreal.
The last time the gang was altogether for an official tour was more than eight years ago. Joey Kramer, the band's founding drummer, will not be participating, and according to a statement from the band, his "full attention [is] on his family and health." Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 5.
