Morning Between Bells with Manitoba baker Machado, Let's get you caught up on some of the other stories we're following for you, the entertainment world, chris Rock finally addressing the slap heard around the world this time. It's about new information added to the situation. If you somehow forgot the comedian infamously was slapped in front of the entire world by Will smith during the 2022 Oscars. And now Chris Rock says he had an offer to return the Oscars next year to host comedian revealing the news during a stand up show in phoenix. Unsurprisingly it was an all offer he's refused according to the local Arizona Republic Rock reportedly compared returning to the Oscars like returning to the scene of a crime specifically referencing the murders of Nicole Brown, Simpson and Ron Goldman saying it'd be like Nicole Brown going back to the restaurant, the comic previously hosted in 2015 and 2016 but 2013 not going to be added to his resume that we should know. I mean we don't know how early the Oscars typically reach out to particular people, but they usually don't even announce who's hosting until maybe january usually like a month or two before the Oscars even happened. So you have to give credit maybe to the Oscars at least trying to stay within the cultural zeitgeist of keeping that situation going by having us have chris Rock host next year, which is something the Oscars normally would never want to do. The Oscars always likes to sort of be the highbrow sort of awards show. They're not the M. T. V. V. M. A. S. Who wants us talking about all the weird things that happened and less about the awards. But I mean it's funny that he won't go there whatsoever. He's obviously still traumatized if I don't blame him. He's referencing the O. J. Simpson Nicole Simpson case and you like you mentioned he's done it twice before. He also mentioned during that same show that he was also offered a Super Bowl commercial about the slap. And he also turned that down saying he was throwing a lot of money so he obviously really wants to distance himself at least for now. He said this he said the slap hurt. Also he basically compared will smith Muhammad ali who he of course played in that movie. Ali um because it hurt and I guess it makes sense because we all heard it. I mean it was clearly not sort of like this like little light ding here but this but this gets into an issue that the Oscars always sort of has because it's like they never capitalized on sort of pr and attention that comes from it because they sort of want to move away and have it be about the film and cinema which I totally get it. I understand but there's a reason why the V. M. A. S. Are way more relevant in terms of the water cooler conversation than something like the the Oscars because they sort of capitalize on us talking about sort of the weird stuff that happens all day. And of course, I mean we don't condone that, but this was one of the highest ratings, the Oscars. So of course, that makes total sense. By the way, the Oscars has not confirmed this, by the way, they didn't respond to a request for comment from every media agency out there. So who knows if at the end of the day if that was true? Because the Oscars hasn't commented and as we always say, it's harry's house, we're just living in it. Harry styles as it was back on top of the billboard Hot 100 chart and making history in the process. It is the first song ever ever to claim five distinct stays at number one, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Beyonce. No one no one has ever pulled us off. This also marks the songs 11th, total week at number one. The longest run since Roddy Rich's at the box also hit 11 weeks at number one back in 2020. If you're wondering how much longer as it was, needs to stay on top to claim the all time record. Well, it's a while. No song has done better than Little Nas X is Old town road. Remember that? Which ruled for a record 19 weeks. That was in 2019 on this week's chart as it was is followed by Liz owes about damn time. Steve Lacy's bad habit to round out the top three. Nicki Minaj's super freaky girl falling to number seven just a week after debuting at number one. Look as it was has been out so long. I'm still obsessed with that song every time it comes on. You just saw him live. Yeah, he was amazing. So, so, so good. I mean look, he's gonna he's gonna get maybe close to that record. He might potentially break that record from little not sex, but don't forget, there's gonna be a a new entrant into the list this next week, which is gonna be the Brittany Elton john's song which we already announced on friday number one in 40 different countries. So you'd have to think it's at least going to crack the top five here on billboard. So who knows how much longer Harry Styles has before Brittany and Elton john either to thrown him or you know, add some more chaos to the list here. All right. Meanwhile, new queen is joining the marvel cinematic universe. We're talking about Megan the stallion. She's going to appear in a few episodes of the Disney plus original series, she hook attorney at Law. So for all we know right now, is that the rapper gonna be playing a character from another world who is a fictionalized version of herself and while M. C. U. Fans definitely excited. Megan's fans even more excited, some tweeting that it's not Megan that's joining the marvel universe. It's the M. C. U. That's joining the Megan the stallion Multiverse and this isn't the only project the star will soon be seen in. She's also joined the cast of the musical comedy, effing identical twins. She's done interviews where she said she actually wanted to be an actress before she wanted to be a row. So this was always something that was something that she wanted to do um and she doesn't want to stop there. She has even said she wants to get into directing to producing to all this kind of stuff. So she's bringing the hobbies. We are coming. I love me some Megan, the stallion. I would love this would maybe get me to watch a marvel show. Well, can I say that you know how excited I was about? She hulk, I've talked about it on this show for months leading up to it. It's terrible. It's terrible reviews so I'm still gonna watch it because I'm just going to watch it. But we can use the Megan thee stallion, whatever it can take to give it some attention. We'll do another show that I can't stop watching House of the Dragon continues to bring the heat, episode two of the Game of Thrones prequel drew in 10.2 million viewers across HBO and HBO max a larger audience and its record setting premiere just a sunday before HBO says the House of the dragon premiere audience has grown to almost 25 million viewers across platforms in the weeks since it debuted. Now, it's pretty obvious why the network gave the show an early renewal for season two. House of the Dragon has some big shoes to fill. Following his predecessor, Game of Thrones became HBO's most viewed series of all time throughout its eight year run. But the prequel could give it a run for its money. I think people just want to find that unified experience where everyone is watching a show together. I don't even correct me if I'm wrong. After Game of Thrones, I can't remember a show that so many people across the board. I mean the only one that could come to mind is succession, but it doesn't have sort of, but it's a different, I think it's a different show and I think succession has a sort of binge able audience that's watching it in a different way than Game of Thrones. I feel like Game of Thrones was sort of the last and now we have House of Dragons, the last sort of sunday show that everybody the next day sort of talked about afterwards. You have to be so happy if you're if you're Warner Brothers Discovery because there there's so much pressure on them to get this show off the ground running again, given how bad the show ended with Game of Thrones. So the fact that everybody's loving it and the ratings didn't dip after the first episode, that the fact that that's good. That's showing that's good that you're having a sustainable audience and that gives you a reason to believe that this A has legs and B. Which is most important. You can do spinoffs for HBO max because if this really stumbled out of the gate, the entire Game of throne franchise would be basically in disarray because you would have no idea what you could do after that because you had a terrible finale for Game of Thrones and nobody be watching this. Clearly, that's not the case here and that's really, really good news. It could look like a marvel franchise in the future and that's what they want. That's absolutely what they want. They want a million different spin offs from this franchise.
