Let's get to those top stories we're following today, neve Campbell is opening up about her decision not to return for the sixth installment of the Scream franchise, The star of the past five screen films revealed to the Hollywood reporter that the issue came down to money. Campbell saying, quote as a woman, I've had hard, I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream, I fell the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise. Campbell going on to say, I honestly don't believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years, that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man and quote the 48 year old Campbell has been with the franchise, like she mentioned for 25 years playing iconic Survivor Sidney Prescott. I respect that she's actually standing up and talking about this publicly because we know she's not the first woman in Hollywood to go through this and you know, there are some people who haven't gone back to franchises or roles for that very reason, but just don't wanna have said Hollywood or just stay quiet and neve Campbell, I think she was crucial to the Scream franchise and the first five, I love neve Campbell, I mean she was a Star, the main character of these movies. I am curious to know what the number was probably will never find out but I'm sure it's pretty offensive and she recently told entertainment tonight that she'd be open to returning to the franchise if they did come back with another number and Hannah we know this is a huge issue in Hollywood gender parity just even outside of Hollywood. I do want to mention something though when it comes to the numbers Boxofficemojo did predict that this screen movie Scream six, it's not really boating while moving forward because screen five kind of did on par with screen too. Scream three and four kind of dwindled in the numbers for fans if we look historically at the movies um even factoring in inflation so if this movie doesn't do well Scream six in addition to not having nev I think that could be part of the reason I don't want to pay that much. But yeah I I do believe that she has been a huge part of the franchise. The franchise has made well into the hundreds of millions of dollars and it's so beloved by fans but at the same time I think to have that number would be helpful. That's actually a really good point because I only saw a screen one and two and I started kind of skip three and four and I know I'm not alone on that. So that's a really good point with that said I still think she deserves some kind of compensation recognition, recognition, even if they bring her for some kind of cameo situation. I mean, I think, you know, they should celebrate neve Campbell for the role she did play in. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a factor of her not necessarily wanting to do any sort of participation if she wasn't going to get that number and I agree, I feel like men in Hollywood command a different kind of presents a different kind of power. So I am proud of her for standing up for this and it gives other actors more pause when taking any offer that's coming their way. Amanda Seyfried is opening up about issues that she faced when doing nude scenes as young actress saying she wishes intimacy coordinators were around on set when she was first starting out. Now, Seifried who had big roles as a teen in popular flicks like Mean girls and jennifer's body says she was put in positions that were not comfortable to her at a young age, back when the role of intimacy coordinators were basically non existent. Now, Siegfried even referenced one instance where she said she walked around on set without underwear on as a 19 year old saying she did it because she didn't want to upset anyone and wanted to keep her job. Now, intimacy coordinators have become much more commonplace on Hollywood sets, as we know since the dawn of the Me Too era, thankfully Sifford said she got out of those years, quote pretty unscathed. My first thought when hearing this story, Hannah was of Alicia Vikander who recently opened up about her experience being nude on set, saying she was essentially not even offered a robe nude for hours on this set as a relatively new actor. And the thing with Amanda Seyfried is, she said for the Mean Girls premiere, she didn't even ask the studio for a budget for styling, she bought her own dresses. She even walked home from the new york premiere bataille Because she didn't want to be a bother. And I think we're just in such a different era with social media and again, actors being able to command or really anyone for that matter, being to being able to command a better salary and better benefits from wherever they work. Even again, outside of Hollywood. Dakota Johnson has even been very open about her experience on the 50 shades of gray sat especially in the first installment of that film. I think this is something that a lot of women have, have dealt with Sydney Sweeney came out very recently, saying because, you know, she was topless in some episodes of euphoria, you know, there is that stereotype that she maybe not as respected as her fellow actors as you know, we had the enemy intimacy coordinator of Britain on just a few months ago, we've had her on a few times actually and she talks about this and said how important think about those scenes from Britain and how awkward they may be. Not only for the actors but the directors, everyone array around them while you're you know, shooting these intimate scenes. I'm so glad that you know this is now a conversation being discussed and I'm glad that Amanda says, look, I left pretty unscathed, but we know there are a lot of Hollywood actresses that haven't had the same experience well and she's such an incredible actress. So to think that, you know, early on in her own career, she was even having kind of imposter syndrome moments of like should I ask for this? And it's not even I want to be wary of saying imposter sent because this is a very real issue that we saw with a lot of actresses in previous generations. So to think this is something that we didn't have as a resource is mind boggling, but also thank goodness, we've come this far and have this progress. Absolutely. And our next Disney Mermaid is finally opening up about all that backlash she received when she first accepted the role, Halle bailey who is slated to play Ariel in Disney's upcoming live action version of The Little Mermaid says in an interview with Variety, her grandparents helped her get through all of those hateful comments they uplifted her by saying things like quote you don't understand what this is doing for us for our community for all the little black and brown girls who are going to see themselves in you in the interview, she also discussed how difficult it was for her to be away from her family and her sister pop star Chloe bailey while she was filming during covid lockdowns. It was that agony, that pain of being pulled away from something that's like your arm. So I was pulling from that, she recalled I remember the backlash she got, I remember that hashtag not my ariel that was the movement and I remember thinking how young she was and how hard it must be to be going through that especially as a young woman of color who's now getting that big role, you know that will make her a household name, I'm so glad she had a support system around her to help her get through this but I remember feeling so bad for this young teenager at the time when this role was announced. Yeah, absolutely, and it reminded me a lot of what we saw very different in terms of casting but with kelly Marie tran entering the Star Wars franchise as one of the main first asian american characters with that much substance in a role and the backlash that she faced even as an adult uh so to think that she is so young and holly had to face this is really incredible and I remember that backlash as well with all of the people coming out with mermaid science and it's like guys, we do realize mermaids probably do not exist right? Like they're fictional. So it really doesn't matter what ethnicity someone is. And mermaid folklore comes from all areas of the world by the way. So we should be open minded to this and I'm really excited for her to take on this role because she and her sister, they have the voices of literal angels so I feel like she's gonna be perfect. Absolutely, I can't wait. I think 2023 this movie comes out Yeah, another movie we can't wait for, I think this one's coming sooner. Timothy Salameh is back with his next role. Take a look, you don't think I'm a bad person. So mgM releasing the trailer for the new film Bones and all starring shalem it's a classic story of love and cannibalism. This romantic horror story centers around a young woman's journey across the country in hopes of finding her dad who she believes is the only person who can answer why she has the urge to kill and eat the people she loves. Not very related. The film is slated to hit theaters on november 23rd so I couldn't help but notice immediately the social media was abuzz every platform basically talking about the timing of this, especially twitter and tiktok users were saying this coming out on the same day as Armie Hammer's documentary hint rumor, cannibalism if you're not up to speed. It's really awkward, especially because timothy shallow may start and call me by your name with the same director with Armie Hammer, but I really can't wait for this. It's so weird. I don't want to see little timmy tim crunching on some bones even though if you look at his twitter, he's kind of teasing that. Um, but it should be really exciting and it's coming from a great team. It will probably be cinematic genius. Are you going to watch this hand? I absolutely am and I'm always surprised by the range this actor has. I mean he can play really a hero character for example, in dune a heartthrob. He's just incredibly, I think he's amazing and I think there's so much we're going to see from him as an actor in so many projects in the future. 100% and I think I'm not positive. I haven't taken a look at the cast, but besides him, these are relative newcomers, you know, not necessarily a list celebs that we constantly talk about. I'm excited to see what the performance comes from the rest of the characters in this cast really interesting. We'll see how they pull it off again. Not sure I'm into cannibalism, but we'll see if timothy shalom is actually a cannibal in this or he is the victim of a cannibal I do think this director has always been very good. I mean he's kind of the one who put timothy chalet on the map in the first place. So very good at finding good young talent who haven't made their marks yet but soon and will. Yeah I think this movie is gonna be incredible. Maybe we can get him on the show. Yeah that would be amazing. We're putting that out there. Also Guadagnino saying you know he's inspired by yeah, he's inspired by the disenfranchised about people living on the margins of society. So of course you got to know this is a metaphor for so many other things that we could be talking about topically. I love a movie that's something on the surface but also depth.
