let's start with some Ryan Gosling News. He's been busy promoting his upcoming action thriller, the Gray man Asia and stepping into the shoes of ken for Greta Gerwig is live action barbie film and if he didn't have enough on his plane rumors circulating that the actor joining the M. C. You potentially as the superhero nova. Yeah, but marvel fans should not get too excited baker in a new interview with MTV news. Gosling quickly shut down those rumors but he did have an idea of his own take a look. Alright, I don't know if we have his idea. I was I was waiting for the Captain Canada. It's still it's still good comments. How many superhero roles have you said no to it doesn't matter. I wasn't I wasn't right for them, you know, but I would I'd love to do it. I just I just What's the one? Ok, Captain Canada might not be that far off considering he's working with the Russo brothers on the Gray man, there's a duo behind both Avengers infinity war and Avengers and game. And the reporter who interviewed Gosling for MTV news revealed the actor reached back out to him saying there is one superhero, he wants to play baker and that is ghostwriters. So that's a no for now on nova. The nova rumors are not true and okay, I want to hear what you think about this as we are M. C. U adjacent. I'm not against Gosling, I love I think you and I both love Ryan Gosling and there's no doubt about that. I don't necessarily think we need another major star who is already getting these huge movie roles and winning awards to front an M. C. U. Movie. I'm not against it. I'm not against him being a part of the universe. But I think there are so many stories to explore particularly with people of color people who are on the L. G. B. T. Q. Plus community. I just don't know. I don't know. There's a lot of a list actors christian bale we just saw in the new thor movie, Natalie Portman is in the new thor movie. All these a list actors that are starting to make their appearance in the marvel universe. Maybe there's a place for Ryan Gosling. But I think more so me, you know ghost writer I think is basically the one I'm not so interested in because there's already been multiple ones already out there. Eva Mendez, his wife was in those and he would have to take that and he would have to take that role away from one Nicolas Cage. So I don't know if he wants that by the way. If you look up Captain Canada that actually is a superhero apparently was a comic book series created out of new found land From the 1970s. So maybe there could be a Captain Canada for Ryan gosling down the horizon? Yeah. Okay this is a little bit like out of left field but have you ever looked into, is it D. B. Cooper like that conspiracy theory. It's not a conspiracy theory but it's like the unsolved mystery of that guy who just jumped out of a plane. I think that name is based on some sort of Canadian comics that has french roots. So a I guess Ryan Gosling has a lot to choose from right now. That would be cool. I mean look we have a Captain America. Maybe Captain Canada could be down the road for us. I'd be into it. Yeah. Meanwhile Monique is getting the last laugh in her netflix fight. Take a look, can y'all believe this, Can y'all believe this out and came on home to netflix. Okay, so the Oscar winner is set to film her first comedy special for the streamer. After settling that lawsuit over claims, the company systematically under pays black women. The comedian alleged netflix lowballed her with an opening offer of $500,000 for a one hour show and netflix would have both copyright and audio only rights now, Monique proceeded to call out netflix's eight figure deals with Dave chappelle chris rock and Amy schumer. But as the saying goes all's well that ends well baker in her video announcing the new special Monique also revealed she's reuniting with precious director lee Daniels for an upcoming netflix film titled deliverance. This is so interesting because I feel like we've talked about this on the show? Like the ongoing saga with Monique between her and netflix And finally it's ending with a resolution of a settlement. So I think it's pretty surprising that we're seeing this not only get settled, but also that she is going to continue collaborating with this special and also with a movie on the way, but the Flowers are do I mean I think that in this current generation, a lot of people are like Monique, like not as familiar, I think younger people, but she is an icon in comedy. She's done so much calms, she has an Oscar a bafta, a golden globe for precious, like she is the whole package and I think often times people looked like who is new, who's making a buzz right now, who's on social media, but she really deserved more than $500,000 especially when you compare it to some of those other comedians. So I'm glad that netflix did this especially with all of their campaigning and initiatives around like strong black lead and everything. They're trying to do with diversity. It only makes sense. So really based off of this. I mean the fact that she had beef with not just netflix, but as you mentioned lee Daniels as well and she's mended both of those bridges with both of those individuals. All things now are possible now as a result of this because the netflix thing went to court. You mentioned, she said that they lowballed her offering her only half a million dollars while giving Dave chappelle $20 million. Amy schumer $11 million. And they said, and when she tried to basically renegotiate with them, they basically cut her off as a result of all of that. So this is great that netflix has mended fences with her. And then as you mentioned with lee Daniels, she won an Oscar for precious based on the novel push by Sapphire, which was my favorite title. So this is amazing news that she's basically able to get both of these things here. Yeah, especially because I I think that she's become this icon for also not only within comedy, but standing your ground as a woman as a black woman and getting what you deserve. She's also been advocating for like work life balance. So being able to both prioritize her family, her relationship, her marriage and also pursue a career. I'm glad she's finally getting what looks like a happy ending. Amen indeed. Meanwhile, the Halloween saga Asia is coming to a close. Universal pictures, upcoming horror film. Halloween ends finally releasing its first trailer, Jamie lee Curtis is returning for the final battle. Look at this, Come on, let's go right, Oh, I'm loving this. Yet. The latest trilogy which started with Halloween back in 2018 and Halloween kills last year promises an ultimate showdown between Lori and Michael Myers Halloween ends gonna hit theaters october the 14th. Now this will be the 13th film in the Halloween franchise which has grossed over $770 million worldwide. Whether this is actually the end of the Halloween films or not, it seems as if it's the end for Jamie lee Curtis involvement. She revealed a lorry forever tattoo back in february when the movie had wrapped by the way, the three films, by the way that Jason blum and David Gordon Green has directed have been financial juggernauts including with Jamie lee Curtis and I had to look this up, Halloween back in 20 Halloween. The franchise is the highest grossing horror franchise ever. Nothing's even close to it. And Halloween when it came out in 20 $1859 million at the box office, Halloween kills the most recent one which came out in 2021 $92 million at the box office. So you would have to think that this one being the final one that they'd be making together with Jamie lee Curtis is gonna go gangbusters at the box office. And one last note because you know, I love the real housewives, Kyle Richards is still in it. So I'm very excited about that. That's so funny. I was gonna say aren't you like a Halloween family because we were talking about this on trivia and that's how I knew just how much this franchise has made over the years. So I have no doubt because it's continuing to make money, especially with this latest installment of those since 2018 I think this could be the end for Jamie lee Curtis but also at the same time, even if they say like this is the end, I feel like five years from now, 10 years from now, we can only expect a revival at the very least like a tv series on a streamer 100% because Jason blum, the producer has basically insinuated that he says that he's seen him. He says it's very good, I'm very excited we have a few things to fix on but I'm excited for this to be our last Halloween movie. This is not going to be the last Halloween movie but this will be our last Halloween movie. So you at least hopefully think that maybe Jamie lee Curtis maybe kills Micro Myers at the end and you get some sort of nice conclusion at the end. Yeah, we'll see in the showdown but Halloween may be all about the costumes. So is Comic Con baker after two years of virtual shows SAn Diego. Comic Con will make a triumphant return thursday as an in person event in real life. The four day extravaganza will feature huge names and bring the latest from Top films, tv shows and Studios including marvel and D. C. Now some of these panels to look forward to include Warner Brothers marvel a look behind the scenes at Apple tv plus hit series titled Inside Severance. So for Severance of course and the Walking Dead HBO will debut a new look at the Game of Thrones, prequel series, House of the Dragon And Paramount class will have a panel for three of its star trek series and if you're heading over to comic con get there early because it's expected to return to its usual attendance of more than 130,000 deaths a lot. I'm most excited for the fact that it's back in person. It was so depressing to cover Comic Con while it was virtual just because everyone was wearing the costumes pre pandemic and people put in, you know a lot of work into the cosplay. So being able to be there in person, I'm so excited for the fans and also for these panels, you know I'm a huge fan of Severance on Apple Tv Plus I think if you are, I'm not sure if you started watching it last time we checked in. I like it, I'm really into it. Yes, I know it's so dark, that's the thing but I'm excited for this panel because if anyone else is watching Severance they left us on what should be a criminal cliffhanger like that should not be allowed. And also Game of Thrones and Marvel stuff those are always going to do well I think at any comic con, so it's great to be 20, and back at comic con. Yeah and what's interesting Asia you've covered it to enough comic cons, you know, 130,000 people all decked out in all of their outfits. It is an insane sort of environment. It's interesting though. One thing to note as we showed sort of that graphic of all the panels are going to be there. Yes marvel is making an appearance there, but clearly Disney is holding onto the big marvel announcements for their D 23 conference. So this is essentially allowed some of those other players that you mentioned Apple paramount and even amazon now with their Lord of the Rings show to basically take big stage there by the way that Lord of the Rings show that's going to be on amazon, the most expensive show produced so far. $450 million. $20 million an episode that amazon is creating for that thing.
