'SNL' Reveals Hosts, Musical Guests
There have been some major shakeups at Saturday Night Live after a number of tenured comedians left the show to pursue other opportunities but there is some good news for fans: the first hosts and musical acts of season 48 have been announced. For the premiere, Top Gun: Maverick star Miles Teller has been tapped for hosting duties and Kendrick Lamar will step in as the musical performer. Actor Brendan Gleeson will host on October 8 and Willow is set to make her SNL debut as the musical guest. Megan Thee Stallion is set to take on hosting duties and she will serve as the guest performer on October 15.
'The Bodyguard' Returns to Theaters
In celebration of The Bodyguard's 30th anniversary, the film starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner will be back in theaters. Warner Bros., in partnership with distributor Trafalgar Releasing, will offer screenings on November 6 and November 9 across the U.S. Tickets for the event go on sale September 28.
Tom Hardy Fights
When actor Tom Hardy isn't preparing for his next role, he apparently is working on becoming a master martial artist, and he's doing pretty well. Last weekend the 45-year-old quietly entered a Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition in England and secured the top spot. Last month, he also won a charity tournament. If you've missed seeing him on screen, don't worry because his next film, Havoc, is slated for a 2023 release.
'Serial' Podcast Returns
The Serial podcast first rose to critical acclaim in 2014 when Sarah Koenig brought the case of Adnan Syed to light. It was a whirlwind of true crime investigation that sought get to the bottom of the murder of Hae Min Lee but after 2018, the show went dark. Now, after Syed's release from prison earlier this week, Koenig and the team are back with another episode. Topics discussed in the episode include why Syed was released, the Juvenile Restoration Act, new suspects in the case, and what to expect in the 30 days the prosecution has to decide whether or not to refile charges against him.
