'Stranger Things' Season 4, Part 2 Out Now

It dropped on Netflix at midnight but a wide swath of users could not access the title after the streaming platform crashed upon its release. At least 13,000 complaints were reported before the issue was resolved about 30 minutes later. Fans are in for a lengthy conclusion with the two final episodes totaling a runtime of four hours.

'Field of Dreams' Won't Be Built at Peacock

In other TV news, if you were anticipating the release of the streaming adaptation of Field of Dreams, you'll have to keep waiting. NBC's Peacock picked up the project last August but has since dropped it for an undisclosed reason. Universal Television, an NBCUniversal subsidiary, is currently shopping the show to interested buyers. The 1989 original film, adapted from the novel Shoeless Joe, starred Kevin Costner as a man who builds a baseball diamond in his Iowa cornfield hoping to summon the spirits of baseball legends — and connect with his own father.

Masks Off on Broadway

COVID-19 restrictions are loosening on the Great White Way. All 41 of Broadway's theaters have loosened COVID guidelines and have implemented a mask-optional policy for audience members. The Broadway League, the body representing theater owners and producers, said the guideline is fluid and could revert back if conditions in New York City worsen.

Prime Video UK Scores Champions League Rights

Amazon is securing more sports broadcast deals. UK fans of Europe's champions league soccer can tune into Prime Video to catch some action. Amazon will be taking a handful of matches from the longtime exclusive rights holder, BT Sport. The deal goes into effect in 2024 when the Champions League tournament will grow from 32 to 36 teams under a new format.

'Baymax!' Backlash

Disney has again come under fire for its alleged support of the LGBTQ+ community. The Disney+ show Baymax! sparked outrage from some conservative critics after an episode showed a man in a transgender flag shirt shopping for tampons and another episode featured the cartoon robot Baymax trying to convince a man to date another man. The anti-LGBTQ crowd argued that the scenes shouldn't be included in the children's animated series, but social media users were quick to come out in support of the series and its puffy, robot ally protagonist.

'Hocus Pocus 2' Trailer

Hocus Pocus fans are closer to having their dreams poofed into reality after the trailer for the sequel film was released this week. The preview garnered 43.6 million views in just the first 24 hours of release, surpassing other Disney snippets like The Mandalorian, which saw 36 million views in its first day. It's been 29 years since the original release of the family classic, and Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy are reprising their roles as the witchy Sanderson Sisters in the sequel slated for a September 30 release.
