alright, so Hannah for the first time ever americans watching streaming platforms more than broadcasting cable television. So we definitely got to talk about it. Thanks to shows like Stranger Things in the umbrella academy for the fifth straight month. Now streamers set a new high in Nielsen's monthly usage report. Netflix actually ranking as the most watched platform across the Tv landscape streaming platforms made up about 35% of all tv usage in this country. That's according to Nielsen's july gauge platform kings and that's even up a full percentage point from last month. In june cable and broadcast came in at 34.4% and 21.6% respectively. Netflix, as I mentioned, once again held the largest share of overall tv viewing among streamers with 8% that's a record high for the platform, Hulu racked in 3.6% share last month, a record thanks to the second season of only murders in the building and the Bear, which by the way, the last two episodes of the Bear, awesome if you haven't seen it. Meanwhile, dizzy Platt slipped a bit to about 1.8% and the expectation is is this is going to get even higher as the years progress, which is adding more pressure now to these, these companies by the way, the cable companies and a lot of these media providers that own these streaming platforms because they're not making as much money on these streaming platforms as they are cable television. Disney in particular. Disney which owns hulu. Disney plus ESPN plus, they have all these cable platforms that completely make more money, but they're topping out on subscriber numbers for Disney Plus the only streaming platform that actually gained subscribers like a significant amount was paramount. Plus that's the only one that's out there. You have netflix who's losing accounts left and right, but yet still at the end of the day, consumers were still into streaming here. Remember years ago when Nielsen didn't even measure streaming? This is all new by the way, streaming has beat network television before. This is the first time ever. It's beaten cable and I think that's what's so interesting and I think you're right, I mean when's the last time you've watched a network show very rarely and and look that we see that in the awards nominations, the Emmys, the Oscars, all of that stuff. A lot of that now starting to go to streaming, especially at the Emmys, there's very few broadcast television that gets award recognition. The last thing I'll note here, sports has been basically the live sports has sort of been the last, that's the only thing, but we're sort of at this new turning point because now you have amazon having the thursday night football package, you're seeing more streaming now, go to your seeing more sports streaming. Do you not start to see that landscape change even more were less and less people now watch television because of that, by the way, the yes streamer cheddar promos all the time. Yes, network, wow, interesting. The Yankees love us, They really do, thank you in other news. King Kid Cudi says he suffered a stroke two weeks after checking himself into rehab for his mental health. I was in 2016 in a new interview with esquire, the rapper reveals the emergency landed him in the hospital and slowed his movement and his speech after going through physical rehab. The artist says he challenged himself by doing a script read with Michael Sarah for the broadway production lobby hero though he did not get the part kid Cuddy believes the experience helped him heal, he tells esquire, quote, I proved to myself that I could do it, I needed that at the time. Many kid Cudi fans, I have always admired him for publicly speaking about his mental health battle and he's proud to be an advocate for helping others get the help they need proper saying, quote, I'm ready to wear those shoes and be a role model. It's a lot of pressure, but it keeps me alive. So I'll take this interview was so insightful. He's 38 years old now, he's like this is the happiest I've ever been in my entire life. He said 2016, I was depressed, I had suicidal urges and when you listen to his music back then, I mean there you know, you heard kind of snippets of that, but I just thought he was an artist, just kind of creating music, not knowing that this was his life and he says this is the first time in his life where he's absolutely happy and he needed that rehab. He says, yeah, I'm glad you mentioned that because he says he wakes up now at the same time every single day and he wakes up, throws on clothes and he looks the mirror and he knows that he really, for the first time loves himself. This is all by the way, aside from all the shade that he was starring at Kanye West in this interview reaches esquire piece, it's very long but it's got a lot of really interesting stuff on it. Can we talk about the cover for a second completely in the nude, he just covering his junk, but that is basically it, it's a really interesting interview, definitely gotta read it. Meanwhile, two big stars are in talks to join the next season of Black Mirror Variety, Learning that Salma Hayek and Annie Murphy are in talks to star in the anthology series now, the roles have not been revealed just yet, Zazi beats Aaron paul and kate mara also have signed on to the cast as well. In addition to Rory culkin, who was most recently seen in FX is under the banner of Heaven. He's by the way, the younger brother of both Macaulay and Kieran culkin also going to be part of the project according to deadline in the new season of Black Mirror reportedly has been in the works since May. The storylines still though being kept under wraps. So we'll just have to wait patiently until the new edition of the Dystopian series premieres. And People for Black Mirror fans of Black, We have been waiting for so long since 2019 for this show to come back onto netflix because there was issues obviously with the pandemic, then there was the production issue because the people who executive produced the show then lost the rights of the show because of the production company. So now, basically that everything has been settled here with netflix and basically now they're getting the cast in this, it's gonna be great. I mean that's part of the allure of Black Mirror's because you get, because you only have to do 11 episode, it's not like you're a whole season commitment on something like this. So this is why you can get these big stars like Miley Cyrus and all these star studded. Yeah, yeah. And honestly a lot of these actors are clamoring for this show for that reason. Thelma hike, that's a huge one episode in and out, incredible. And by the way, nobody's hotter at the moment than Annie Murphy coming off of Ships Creek. Yeah, I think she's gonna be great by the way, She she's such a great actress, like comedic timing but also drama. She's fantastic and two of our favorite artists Britney Spears and Elton john have been working on a new song together. It was set to release sometime soon. However short snippet of it has leaked online and Britney fans are not happy one fan tweeted quote ruining the release of Britney's first single as a Free Woman in 15 Years is honestly disrespectful. I can't believe even Britney's fans are spreading leaks. The upcoming track is titled Hold Me Closer and is reimagined of john's 1971 smash hit Tiny Dancer, the song, Mark Speer's first new material in six years. Of course fans including us are eager to get their hands or ears on it. But not like this rumors have claimed the song could be released as soon as today, but there are a lot of insiders in the music industry who's saying it's not going to be today I am. You know, we saw this with the Beyonce's album to renaissance was leaked. We're now seeing it with Brittany, I I want to know who's leaking this stuff. And also after six years this has to be disappointing to Brittany and Elton john as they're putting the finishing touches on this huge song that's coming out really true. And look, I listen to what it seems as the lead copy. So, again, I don't know what a banger it's it's a good song. It's more, I mean again, this is all bases of the leak version. I don't even know if this is the actual version that is being out there because again, until we hear the actual thing, you don't know the one that's out there seems like it's a little bit lower beats of her singing Tiny Dancer. She sings basically the first part of it, he sings the second part of this and I get sort of why people are really upset about it being leaked because there's so much pressure and attention on Brittany given everything that has happened in her personal life, from the conservatorship to finally getting her life back to taking control of everything. This is her first real song out there. I do not think it is different in the sense of Beyonce because with Beyonce we at least album. Yeah it was the whole album, we at least have break my soul that had already been released. We at least haven't even heard Brittany any music from Britney for a long time. So for a lot of us at least from my perspective I just wanted to know what does she sound like? What does this, what we haven't heard anything new from her forever. Is this sort of sort of ST Brittany that we had in the past. I heard I know you just heard the leak that she was ad libbing more than singing. I mean that's I mean I just I don't know if I really, really say it was ad libbing that I've seen some of those tweets as well, it sounded like she was mostly singing on most of it. Um And the course is really good because she's literally just singing Hold Me closer, tiny Dancer which is really good. But again I'm gonna hold my judgment until at least hear the real thing. But Spotify has been tweeting like sort of like being like who's excited for it. So it seems like it's coming soon. It's not coming today, it's coming soon.
