Tom Cruise to Space
Tom Cruise could be the first civilian to complete a space walk. The actor is set to star in a movie about space and creators won't be using CGI or greenscreens to give viewers the real feel. They're launching the celeb directly to the International Space Station. Donna Langley, head of Universal Pictures, told BBC that most of the movie will be shot on Earth, but there are plans to shoot on the ISS and to capture Cruise outside of the hub. She also revealed that the studio is working closely with SpaceX and NASA.
Warner Bros. Layoffs
Warner Bros. Television Group just laid off 19 percent of its staff in its scripted, unscripted, and animation sectors. The layoffs are being reported as a cost cutting move following its merger with Discovery earlier this year. In August, 70 roles at HBO and HBO Max were slashed in an effort to cut costs stemming from the merger. In a letter to staff shared with Variety, Channing Dungey, the chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group, said it was strictly a business decision as the company goes through restructuring.
Chris Meloni, the Sex Symbol
Christopher Meloni is apparently a sex symbol, and his family won't let him hear the end of it. In an interview with People, he said his kids often tease him with the newest memes made about him. Earlier this year, the actor posed nude for Peloton and comments on the shoot quickly made the rounds on social media. Meloni has been a good sport about his social media fame and attributed it to aging gracefully in his industry.
