In Entertainment: Tyler Perry Amazon Deal, Will Smith Makes Plea to Critics, Kim K On Balenciaga

you're about to see more Tyler Perry on amazon Prime video. That's because he signed a deal with amazon Prime video to write direct and produce four movies for the streamer. Now a statement, Tyler Perry said, quote, jennifer Salke and the entire team have welcome me with open arms and I'm looking forward to continuing telling unique stories and bringing my next projects to the global audiences that they reach most recently. Perry has been working with netflix on projects like McDonough Homecoming in a jasmine. So no doubt a huge poach here for amazon. We should also note they've also signed deals with Eddie Murphy, Michael B Jordan's Donald, glover Nicole Kidman. The list goes on on in addition to the fact that they have the Lord of the Rings show, which is the most expensive show on television right now at $20 million an episode here. Yeah, baker really obviously investing a ton in their content right now. But to your point, a huge win for amazon Prime. Tyler Perry, obviously such a prelim Actor, writer, producer, and he has a really big and loyal fan base to, I'm really interested to see what he kind of produces for prime. I'm a big fan myself. So well, one word to that. One thing I thought was interesting when they say he's going to write direct and produce 40 movies missing in that act. He will not apparently be featured in any of these. So I guess media is not making her way over to Amazon. Yeah, I guess that baker, I think some fans are gonna be disappointed about that one. Uh Let's talk about Will smith because he may be out promoting his latest film Emancipation, but all people want to talk about is the infamous Oscar slap during the press tour for the film smith addressed the critics who think it's too soon for him to come back saying quote, I completely understand if someone is not ready, I would absolutely respect that and allow them their space to not be ready. He went on to say quote, the only discomfort my in my heart has around this is that so many people have done spectacular work on this film. My hope is that my team isn't penalized at all for my actions. So baker, is it too soon or is it time to move on and let him promote this movie? This is quite the conundrum. So Apple paid 100 and $20 million for emancipation. This was filmed by the way forever Before the slap that happened at the Oscars. They clearly wanted to back to back Oscars win given that coda one lie master for best picture and Will smith coming off of his Oscar win playing serena and venus, Williams father for his best actor win. So they're really in a bind here because the reviews on this film are really incredible Chloe. So now Oscar voters are in a bind. Do you not give will smith and Apple basically any Oscar nominations because of what happened. That is nothing to do with the movie at all baker, uh you know obviously Will smith was banned from the gala for 10 years over this. I'm not sure how that actually applies to their strategy in terms of awarding nominations, but it does from my perspective, seems like it would be an absolute shame to kind of penalize a movie, especially with the reviews that it's been getting the subject matter in particular over, you know, the misbehavior of one of its actors. So I'm curious to see you know, how they actually navigate this difficult and even larger here for the streamers. Apple potentially might be the only streamer that gets the best picture nomination this year. Doesn't look like netflix or any or even amazon likely going to get a nomination this year. Meanwhile, Howard Stern is stirred up yet again, legendary radio host Howard Stern taking shots at the one and only Oprah during his radio show yesterday. Stern took aim at the iconic talk show host and her behavior on instagram. He said, quote, it's not is not embarrassed by her wealth at all saying that Winfrey post, quote her estates, her gardens, the people who service her and you know, she kind of likes to show it off. I don't think people should be showing off their wealth. Now, as co host, Robin Quivers defended Winfrey. She said that Oprah is using instead the way everybody does just given followers a glimpse into her life. So the big question Chloe is howard picking a fight or does he have a point about instagram flaunting here. I mean, it would obviously be really hypocritical to call out Oprah when the basis of instagram, it seems in recent years has been like flexing mostly from, you know, influencers, in some cases, they're flexing more than they actually have in order to make a good impression. So, I do think that instagram has become kind of a place for escapism to a certain extent. And when it comes to Oprah and sort of the scale of wealth that we're dealing with here, it's not like keeping up with the joneses thing, I don't think anyone's out there, like, oh yeah, I need to have what Oprah has, It is kind of escapism. I think she's kind of just giving people a glimpse and I personally would be sad to see that go away. By the way, it's fair to criticize, I think any other celebrity, maybe even Oprah, to a certain extent, kim Kardashian who we're gonna talk about here in a second. But Oprah has earned her right to flaunt her wealth. She gives back so much also at the same time. So, I feel like Oprah is in a different category than say, I don't know kim Kardashian, that's a great point baker speaking of kim Kardashian, and she says she's reevaluating her relationship with, see aga this comes after the luxury fashion house used a controversial ad campaign featuring Children cuddling teddy bears that were dressed in bondage gear. Kardashian has been an ambassador for balenciaga, she says as a mother, she was left shaken by the disturbing images of the ads. She explained she waited to speak out until she had spoken to balenciaga, the balenciaga team directly. Kardashian said she believes that they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for it to never happen again. You know, we've been talking about this story baker for a couple of days now this saga has kind of been dragging on uh you know, now this company is saying that they've sort of you know, learned their lesson taking an issue, but it took someone to call them out for it. We do know that there was another ad and we've been discussing this as well, referencing a very high profile uh you know, kind of controversial Supreme Court case here as well concerning chilled and it doesn't seem like they learned their lesson after that one. So I'm interested to see if they actually have learned something or if it's just because they're now being called out by kim Kardashian. Yes, they're suing balenciaga is suing the production company for $25 million. The production company countering saying you were on the set with us going through the editing of all of these photos, you knew exactly what was going on, arguing that they had no input in this is silly
