The Florida Keys is open for tourism beginning June 1. The Isla Bella Beach Resort, which has been closed since March 22, is reopening at 50 percent capacity. The resort, located about two hours from Miami, is also introducing a “Safeguarding Our Guests” program, implementing precautionary hygiene protocols directed by several agencies, including the WHO and the CDC. Justin Nels, managing director of Isla Bella Beach Resort and a Monroe County reopening task force member, discusses what safety measures his resort is taking and how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted the popular vacation destination.
