Jan. 6 Committee Highlights Extremists in Seventh Hearing

the world of politics waking up this morning and it's waking up after another huge january 6th committee hearing yesterday. Megan pratt's live on the ground on the White House for us, bringing us more of what we heard yesterday. Good morning Megan Good morning baker. Good morning Alicia. Even though these hearings have been public and they've certainly been spectacles, we know that the investigation for this committee continues behind the scenes. There's no better evidence of that than Pat Cipollone, the former White House Counsel in the trump administration sitting down for his first ever in person on the record interview on friday. So much so it changed sort of the course of the hearing, especially when he talked about the conversations going on inside the White House around election interference, election fraud, election tampering and just how really wild he found that rhetoric to be. Take a look the idea that the federal government could come in. He sees election machines. No, but that's I don't I don't understand why we have to tell you why that's a bad idea. It's a terrible idea, Incredulity from the former White House counsel, which makes sense because the conversations that were going on, we now know with the former president included most of his closest allies closest attendance, telling him over and over and over that he had not won the election. And yet still he called for his supporters to come to Washington on January six and now infamous tweet, be there will be wild. One of those people who did come along is a former spokesperson for the oath keepers, a far right paramilitary group and he said, look the oath keepers were here at the behest of former president trump. But they also saw it as an opportunity for their rhetoric, for their ideology and for their group. Take a look, I think we need to quit mincing words and just talk about truths and what it was gonna be was an armed revolution. I mean people died that day. Law enforcement officers side this there was a gallows set up in front of the capitol. This could have been the spark that started a new civil war and no one would have won their That would have been good for no one baker a leash. I think these first person accounts, these first person experiences are incredibly powerful from the committee. So Megan, what do we know about the next hearing in terms of both timing and content. But we know it's gonna be next week though. The committee is playing coy a little bit about exactly the timing. I would expect it to be in prime time to sort of get those additional american eyeballs and we know that it's going to be a minute by minute recounting of the events of january 6th itself. So going back to the day itself and it's going to focus a lot on what former president trump was doing that day and what he wasn't doing once the capital was breached in between the time of that breach and him finally telling the protesters to go home several hours later, bigger Alicia.
