Jan. 6 Committee to Examine Trump's Conduct During Capitol Attack

and the world of politics waking up this morning to the final january 6th hearing for now at least. Ariel Hickson is live at the White House to bring us more on what's set to be a blockbuster hearing. All focused on those 187 minutes of inaction from former president trump On january 6th. Good morning, Ariel good morning baker and Alicia. The house january 6th committee is holding its final hearing at least for now tonight in prime time. So of course we have to break down what you can expect. The committee will zero in on the 187 minutes between the end of President trump's speech at the ellipse and the point where he ultimately took action to stop the mob of his supporters ransacking the capitol aides to the select committee told reporters on Wednesday that the committee will lay bare trump's inaction in the crucial hours during the attack. The committee hasn't confirmed witnesses officially but we know who will be. We'll hear from based on several reports from multiple outlets were expecting to hear from two live witnesses. In addition to the committee's usual video testimony Matthew Pottenger, the former deputy national security advisor, and Sarah Matthews, a former deputy press secretary. We'll hear from them. Now we have seen video testimony from both of them earlier and on and the committee's other hearings. But we have to note here that both Pottinger and Matthews were in the White House during the capitol attack and resigned later on that same day. Both of them could be in a position to shine more light on President trump's conduct during the attack and confirmed pieces of the testimony we've already heard from other witnesses like former Mark Meadows Aid cassie Hutchison. Now this is poised to be a truly blockbuster hearing tonight. Well, Ariel, it feels like these hearings have gone on and on and on. It. Sometimes it just seems pointless. When's the actual last hearing for the January six committee? Yes, so on and on and on is so right. We know that this is the last hearing for now though. But committee members and staff have caution though that throughout this process the committee's investigation will be ongoing and they haven't put any kind of exploration date on its work. There's potential for future hearings. If the committee uncovers anything worth sharing in that kind of public format. But as of now we have no indication about when that might happen again and before we wrap up. I have to mention the fact that we're all wearing orange. I love it.
