Jan. 6 Hearing to Highlight Role of Extremist Groups

the world of politics waking up this morning and it's waking up to another january 6th hearing. Select committee aides telling reporters on monday that the january 6th committee will convene again today at one p.m. Eastern for a hearing focused on the role of extremist organizations all in the lead up to the violence. On january 6th and on the day itself the hearing, the aide said we'll examine how far right groups, including the proud boys oath keepers, all zeroed in on january 6th as the last opportunity to put former trump president trump back in the White House for a second term. That despite his loss to joe biden in the 2020 presidential election, Democratic Representative Stephanie Murphy of florida and Jamie Raskin of Maryland are gonna lead today's hearing. Now the aides said the hearing will focus in part on the connections between extremist groups and the former President's allies. Roger Stone, a longtime Republican operative, and Michael Flynn, the retired three star general and former trump national security adviser. One thing the committee hasn't previewed ahead of today's hearing is a list of any witnesses we might hear from this like committee said eight. This largely due to security concerns for those who will offer testimony which is expected to focus on motivations of those who showed up to D. C. On january 6th. The committee originally planned for two hearings this week, one today and one thursday and the thursday hearing gonna be moved to next week but offered no details beyond that.
