And the Japanese Prime Minister approved a plan to release a water treatment at the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean. As soon as Thursday, the Tokyo Electric Power company holdings will begin the release of diluted nuclear waste water if weather conditions are favorable. The Prime Minister says this is a crucial step in Decommissioning the plant after an earthquake and tsunami in 2011 caused three of its reactors to melt, contaminating over 1 million tons of water. In response to the announcement, Hong Kong and Macau have announced they will ban products from Fukushima. China will add additional testing to Japanese fish products as well.
