Andrew Wolgemuth, co-founder and CEO of online custom jewelry company Wove, discusses how his company remotely builds and designs dream rings for a new shopping experience.

Jewelry Company Wove Offers an Innovative Shopping Experience

just gonna do it for raising the bar. But I want to turn to another startup, shaking things up online. Custom jewelry company Wove raising $3.85 million in a seed round. Led by Springdale Ventures Wove helps newly engaged couples build exact replicas before delivering high end engagement rings. And the startup says it aims to use its technology to offer a stress free wedding ring shopping experience. So joining me now is Andrew, Wohlgemuth co founder and Ceo of Wove Andrew, thank you so much for coming on the show. This is such a fun topic. So how are you helping couples embark on this process. Thank you so much for having us. So whoa has changed in a way, couples buy engagement rings through our remote custom design paired with an at home try on experience. So essentially what that means is a couple from the their living room, could design a ring with one of our in house wove designers, we send them that ring to their home in seven days where they can try try it on, make any changes that they like and then purchase their final ring with confidence. Okay, so my first question in the wake of this is how do you ensure safe delivery Andrew? I mean these are precious stones, very valuable material. Um, and I'm sure there's got to be some sort of insurance policy on this. It's a great question. So we're the only company that does this and the reason that we're able to do this is because we actually send a realistic replica to our couple's home. So it'll look and feel indistinguishable from the final ring, you wouldn't be able to tell it apart, but it's essentially made with non precious metals and imitation diamonds. Okay, so this is basically going to help you understand the design, but also I'm sure the fit and sizing which is so important as well. There are so many benefits. The sizing is one getting the style right, is really important as well. When I purchased my engagement ring for my wife, I had it purchased online, I shifted across the country, I thought I knew exactly what it was gonna look like. But when I got that ring, it looked different in person than it did online. And so really what our service offers is not only complete customization, but the option for couples to buy with complete confidence knowing that the ring that they get is exactly what they want. So we're really kind of like a Warby parker for engagement rings and our couples love the service. They really enjoy trying it on from home And one of the biggest benefits as well is if you design your ring with whoa, you can keep the replica ring as a travel ring. So if you go to the beach, you go hiking, you don't want to risk losing, you know, $10,000 engagement ring, you have a replica ring that you can wear and having the photos as well. So this is actually a replica ring, but you wouldn't be able to tell it from looking at it. That's so cool. Um Okay I like what you're doing here. So talk to me about price points. You know prices up obviously across the board we talk about inflation all the time on this show for the rings that you offer and design Andrew what is a range of price points that couples can expect to pay. Absolute. So we build all types of rings ranging anywhere from $2,000 up to $60,000. We really encompass kind of the full gambit of what couples are looking for, couples have the option to go through the fully custom experience online where they design a ring completely from scratch with one of our designers or what they can also do is choose one of our pre designed rings off of our site. They're beautiful rings built by R. D. Designers sample it at home with a pre built replica and then make the purchase that way as well. So there's really two options that give couples a ton of flexibility and cover a broad range of price points as well. So I do see here to Andrew which I think our viewers might be interested in. These are ethically sourced diamonds, 100% sustainable materials. How are you able to make that commitment at your company? Yeah, it's it's really important to us. Most jewelry companies create their rings overseas over 95% of jewelry in the U. S. Is made overseas before it's shipped to the United States. We build all of our rings from start to finish in our shop in lancaster pennsylvania. We source all of our diamonds ethically. They comply by the Kimberley process. Um that's extraordinarily important to us as a company. And then like you said, all of our materials are recycled gold. So um it's highly sustainable, highly ethical.
