Journalists, especially foreign correspondents, are accustomed to reporting in conflict zones. But the tense and uncertain situation in Afghanistan right now makes life difficult on the ground, especially as media members look to leave the country. It's seen as so dire that the publishers of the Washington Post, New York Times and Wall Street Journal wrote to President Biden asking him to assist in the evacuation of media members on the ground.
