The justice department is appealing the prison sentence. Lengths of four proud boy leaders who were convicted in the January 6th capital attack. Prosecutors are challenging the prison sentences saying they are significantly shorter than recommended. The four Proud Boys leaders includes the head of the organization Enrico Tao were they were sentenced to 15 to 22 years in prison for plotting to stop the peaceful transfer of presidential power during the 2020 election. All four Proud Boys members were convicted on seditious conspiracy charges. Tao's 22 year sentence is the longest so far among hundreds of criminal cases stemming from the January 6th capital attack. The defendant's lawyer said they plan to review the justice department's appeal and plan to prepare their own appeal in response.
