And people who live in Hawaii want to delay the reopening of West Maui to tourists. Two months ago, a deadly wildfire hit the island of West Maui, including the historical town of Lana Hawaii. Governor Josh Green announced a small area of West Maui would be open to tourists. This weekend, visitors are limited to just one or two local hotels. Over 3500 people from West Maui and 14,000 people total signed a petition that was delivered to the governor's office yesterday asking the governor to please delay that decision.
