Marysabel Huston, Digital Producer at CNN en Español, joins Cheddar News to discuss what to expect from the 23rd annual Latin Grammy Awards, like which new breakout artists you should be watching, and why Bad Bunny is dominating across nominations.

Welcome back. We are just a few short weeks away from the 23rd annual Latin Grammy Awards nominees range from new and emerging artists to some veterans in the Latin music industry this year. All Eyes are on Bad bunny who earned the most nominations of any artist with 10 nominations. Cheddar Shannon Lanier caught up with Marissa Bell Houston, digital producer CNN en espanol to find out why Bad bunny is dominating the charts. Take a look. I think um it's because of the way that he expressed feelings on his songs. I've talked a lot, a lot to, you know, his friends, musicians, journalists, even Spotify asking why he is so huge and they always say it's because he talks or he thinks about feelings and people relate to the songs and the feelings that he talks about in the songs. Um and I think that's why he's dominating the way that he is right now. He just wrapped up a huge tour here in the United States. He has that album, Verano Sinti, which is you know, nominated uh widely in the Latin Grammys and it's causing, causing waves not only in the United States but worldwide. Yeah, tons of hits there for him, but besides Bad bunny, who are some of the nominees end up running for album of the year. Well, there's a lot of nominees, but I'm gonna tell you about my favorites Christina Aguilera of course, with a Gilera. It's the return of the diva in spanish after 20 years, she releases a new album in spanish And also to favorites of the Academy Jorge Drexler. He released Tiempo this year and he won this category in 2018 for Salva Vidas a yellow and also Rosalia, which probably you have heard of. She, she just finished her tour about two or three weeks ago here in the United States, her third album, moto Mommy. It's a favorite for you know the Academy and Defense, the journalist. And she did also win this category in 2019 with wow, that's gonna be a hard decision on who to choose. And you mentioned Christina Aguilera, who I love, especially those runs what do fans think about her return after 22 years? Of course they were excited at the beginning of the year when she released the first part of the ep that completed this whole album that was nominated later in the Latin Grammys. They were very surprised that her spanish was very polished and the way that he that she seeing um you know the pronunciation was a little bit better than two decades ago. So they were very pleased with that. I love Christina Aguilera. So I don't have any complaints. I absolutely adore this album but there's a lot of growth for a lot of the artists out there, especially some of the breakout artists that are nominated this year. So what do you think you're seeing a lot of right here with some of these breakout artists and who can we look out for Sylvan estrada. She's nominated for best new artist and she actually was live with Kelly Clarkson a couple of weeks ago during Hispanic Heritage Month. I think she is one of these new artists that we're gonna start hearing from. She's like a trovatore in spanish, she sings in a soulful way, the stories that she tells in her song she's captivating. Um and I think that we're gonna start hearing a lot more about her in, you know, not in the coming years, but in the coming weeks and months.
