Applying for jobs is now an online activity, but it doesn't mean all applications land in front of an actual recruiter. Kathryn Minshew, the CEO and founder of career development platform The Muse, said that there are some things a candidate can do to make sure their resume makes it through the system.
Using standard fonts and a simple format helps, says Minshew. Also, include keywords from the job description in your resume, though she noted that you must remain truthful about your experience. She also suggests focusing on accomplishments by talking about how a candidate added value in a role, rather than listing off standard duties.
