Lubalin Gears Up to Release His New EP 'Whose Love'

because it has to be eight years ago when coming to hers And after going viral in 2020 with his Internet drama musical, Tiktok's, our next guest has skyrocketed into fame. The viral video earned him nearly five million combined social media followers as well as 200 million views. 35 million likes alone on one platform. He's been highlighted on shows like the kelly Clarkson show and the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. And we are so excited to say Tiktoker and artists, liu Bolin joins us. Welcome to the show level. And I was telling you off camera how excited we are here at cheddar that you're here. There's a control room that is going nuts. Did you ever expect your series to get this popular? Well, I'm also excited to be here. Thank you. I'm freaking out. Honestly. No, no. It was really like, oh, let's just get a few more views will try to build a little audience for my music. And then, yeah, just skyrocketed as you said. I do want to ask about what happened in july of 2021 because you went dark for a while. Your fans were like, what happened? Can you tell us what happened there? I ceased to exist And I've, I disassembled into molecules and atoms and I've reassembled. I've come, I've returned, you vanished and came back vanished and came back. Was it like a mental health break or kind of type of thing. I mean, I think it was just like, you know, hey, we could keep pushing the internet drama button, but like there's more stuff I want to do. And so I was like, let's pull back a bit. Let's take some time. I'm going to finish this E. P. That's kind of was, you know, started before this all happened. And that I was, you know, excited to get out to the world. And That's what we're doing this Friday. Let's talk about your nine song ep whose love? Like you mentioned, it's out June 10th. How has Tiktok may be impacted your creative process when it came to making this ep? I think it impacted, it's probably good and bad ways. But I think the good way is that I realized that with Tiktok and the world we live in now you kind of, you can do something that you like. That also hits the marks. And that's kind of the trick is like you can try just hitting the marks or you can try just doing something you like. But that the key is like, can you, can you make them overlap. So that's why I've been trying to do, that's not easy to do and you've done a great job doing it. It's very much a fine line. What challenges go into creating music. And do you find it more of an obstacle because people know you from Tiktok now that you're creating your own music and your own album. Um Yeah, I mean, I guess it's like a, it's a, it's a, it's a two sided coin, but I'm very happy. I'm in a better position than I've ever been. So, so I can't complain. And I think I just, the Tiktok story is really strong. So it's like, it's an easy thing. Oh, he's the Tiktok guy. Um, but obviously like, you know, we're just working to broaden the definition now. And yeah, so one huge thing that people take away from your Tiktok's. And that's the first thing I noticed when I started following you is your harmony. It is so smooth. It is so beautiful. And it's a Tiktok, it's a staple in your Tiktok videos. How do you, do you feel pressured to create something that, you know, will probably go viral, especially when you have to come up with a harmony. That's not very easy to do. Yeah, you definitely, I mean after the first one, and especially after the second one, it was kind of like, okay, like the 1st 1st time you do it, you're like, you're not thinking about millions of people, you're just making it. And then after that, you're like millions of people might see this. I've got to make it. Um, but yeah, I've been trying to get back to like, that's not what worked the first time. What worked the first time was just doing something I thought was cool. So yeah, well this does look really cool, especially with your three million followers on Tiktok. How has Tiktok and social media impacted your music career. I mean, it's been great that there's more people who are connecting with my music and I think I got lucky that the, you know, some people get stuck in one thing on Tiktok and maybe we're kind of stuck. But also what I did translates pretty well to the rest of what I do. So it's been, it's been great. We've seen a lot of artists to go into the N. F. T and metaverse space. Is this something you're interested in? Perhaps? You know, we're looking at, we're thinking about it, trying to, trying to approach it correctly if we do, but it's a, it seems like a bit of a mixed bag and I'm kind of waiting for the dust to settle to see what really is real. I guess in that world of virtual virtual illness, that makes complete sense. When can fans listen to new music, new music on friday, this friday, any favorite songs or anything we should look out for. What should listeners walk away from when they listen to your album. It's a good question. Honestly, I think I always encourage people to just like have fun figuring out what it means to you and that's totally valid. Like whatever you can take from it is yours. And I don't know, I think the never gonna let it purr ends, but it's completely different is out now, but the original never going to let it sort of because it's actually the second version, but this is a long story, but that one's on the Epa and I think that was really cool. I don't know. There's a bunch of cool ones whose love the title track will be really fun to. Yeah, they're all good. I have to ask what musicians do you want to work with musicians. I'm always bewildered by this question. Let's, let's say Childish Gambino. That would be, wow, that's a good one. Equally as creative so that he's yeah, he's incredible. Unreal. Yeah.
