Make Your Christmas Tree Merry and Bright with These Simple Tips

we have Amanda Ware, founder of Hello holidays here to give a few quick tips to take your christmas tree to the next level. So Amanda, thank you for being here? We have to start off with ribbons cause I know ribbons are big around the holiday time, but how can we use those on our trees? Okay. The best way I think of using ribbon is when you mix your prints, if you add a plaid and mix it with a velvet. Also, if you, you're taking uh maybe a one inch ribbon and mixing it with a four inch, it really gives it more of a dynamic look. And I love that about adding ribbon. I love this whole tree, it's beautiful and I love the different textures that you're using. So let's go to florals because you use a lot of those as well. We do use a lot of florals. So adding sprigs really brings a very big contrast and you can do that with with um florals in your backyard or you can use fake florals. I like if I have a green tree, I like to add flocked sprigs because then it gives like a snowy look inside and you'll really appreciate that when you step away from it. Also adding berries is a great way to add dimension. They do pop and I like the color choices that there are different colors. It's not just red and green. All these colors operated into it. You can totally add different colors. Blue is huge this season. You technically don't, we need lights on this tree. It's true, it's true, It's true. I do know if you are using lights put the lights on first and then the ornaments. So what are some of the rules to put ornaments on the tree ornaments on the tree? I always say everyone has their favorite memory ornaments, add those however you like, you know, most people put their favorite ones on the front and center, but if you have balls or another ornament where you have more than one, a great way to do it is put it in triangles or diamonds. That's another, it's a great way to do. So if you've got your ball, you want to put your bigger ornaments on the bottom and your smaller ornaments on the top and I know a lot of people they live the side, no one sees just bear like things on this side totally. It's true. It's true. We put the ugly ornaments on the back. Yeah, exactly. So is that a mistake? And what are some of the mistakes you see a lot of people making? Okay, one mistake, I hate to say it's a mistake, but when people take ribbon and they just wrap it horizontally around the tree, it looks cheap. So I like to say everyone's done it before, but I don't want my tree to look exactly, I got you. So what you're gonna do to fix that is you take your ribbon and I cut it in strips so you cut your ribbon and strips and then you just kind of loop it on your tree and that really makes making it go horizontally or vertical. Just makes it look more elevated and high quality, it almost looks like a bow in here, but it's just the positioning that it is in different places. Yeah, yeah, you could do this. Okay, okay, I'm gonna try this year. I totally am gonna show everybody on this show, but you know what we talked about being cheap and we don't want to treat it look cheap, but inflation is really hitting a lot of people hard this year, so, and especially in new york, a lot of people have smaller apartments, they don't have space to store a lot of stuff. What's the key to making a tree look more grand or even larger if you don't have the space. Okay. Actually, I showed up today and this was the tiniest tree you've ever seen. So taking your florals, it adds almost a good foot of tree and just putting those up there as your topper makes your tree look more grand. People can barely see this, but the tree kind of stops here and then you have the little piece for the angel. But this all goes a lot larger, like maybe a foot and a half above where the tree actually stops and out as well, totally. It gives it a more grander regal look. I want to grind regal tree this year. You got it. Well while you're here we can't miss an opportunity to include you on some of the greatest and biggest christmas debates that are out right now. Okay, okay, so first off, when do you put your christmas tree up before after thanksgiving, hey I'm a before thanksgiving when the tree comes into your house, the magic and the spirit of christmas is like welcomed in. So the earlier the better, I mean who doesn't want christmas to last as long as possible, keeping it firing at you homemade ornaments, yes or no, I love homemade ornaments. You mix them, mix them with your fancy ornaments or you know, put them on the back of the tree. Okay, we talked about mistakes earlier, so which one of these was worse, The tensile trend or popcorn strings? I love tinsel, tinsel come back, it might be hard to clean up. I know, I think it's gonna leave as quickly as it came but tinsel is in right now.
