What do we know about this surprise hearing? Asia? This was a big surprise. The january 6th committee yesterday announced this hearing for this afternoon at one p.m. And the committee didn't share any other details other than it will quote present recently obtained evidence and receive witness testimony. We now have a slightly clearer picture of what to expect. So of course we've got to break it all down Cassidy. Hutchinson, a former senior aide to former White House Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows is expected to testify today and her appearance was first reported by Punchbowl News. Hutchinson was a witness to critical events and conversations throughout january 6th. She has already sat for an interview with the committee so we're likely to hear information. The panel already knows. One thing she may be asked more about though is pardons at the last hearing. Video testimony from Hutchinson and other trump aides revealed a handful of Republican members reached out to the White House to seek a pardon. This includes representatives Andy Biggs mo brooks, matt gates luego, mayor marjorie, Taylor Greene and scott Perry more pardon requests could be revealed in testimony today and Punch Bowl also reporting this morning. The Hutchinson's testimony will inform the hearings. The committee has scheduled for july and that there are serious concerns for Hutchinson's safety because of what she's revealed to the committee? Really interesting and given the importance of her testimony. Ariel. Do you think we can expect more hearings soon? Well, we don't know. But yesterday's announcement came as a surprise to everyone. But if that tidbit about her testimony, informing the rest of the hearings is true, it could be the case that this is the last hearing until july alright. And meanwhile it's a Tuesday in the summer, which means we have a handful of primary elections going on today. What are you watching right now? Well, five states head to the polls today for another week of primary elections, voters in colorado Illinois new york Oklahoma and Utah for both major parties will decide who their nominees will be for the general election in november. On the Republican side, we're continuing to watch the influence of former President donald trump on the party. Keep an eye on the colorado Senate primary. On the republican side, it's a duel between a trump like Republican and an unusual pro choice moderate democrats hope that the more extreme candidate will win in that race for an easier general election matchup. Speaking of democrats, though, we're watching several member on member races in the democratic strongholds of Chicago and Manhattan. Some races feature some mashups between a moderate and progressive, but others are moderate on moderate or progressive and progressive.
