"Black Widow", the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, outpaced the previous pandemic box office record held by "F9". Eric Davis, the managing editor at Fandango, joined Cheddar to talk about Marvel Studios' first major theatrical release in more than two years, which raked in $80 million at the cinemas and an additional $60 million on Disney+. Despite the big numbers, Davis said that it is too soon to tell if the movie-going experience is returning to pre-pandemic levels, transitioning from streaming at home. "We're only about eight weeks, really, into a sort of more robust reopening of the theatrical marketplace," he said. "There are a lot of global territories that aren't open yet. 'Black Widow' did not open in China, or India, or some of those Southeast Asian markets where Marvel's very popular."
